Did it really deserve a new thread though? If this had been said as a comment inanother thread then I don't think it would have attracted any comment at all. I'm just getting bored or seeing the same unimaginative, negative threads being started.

That's fair enough and probably true, some of the other posts though are ridiculous.

If at the end of the season we don't get into the top 4 or contend a cup whilst still playing this uninspiring style of football after 2 years and heavy investment i'll start to question the manager until then Andre has my total backing.

Don't take it personally mate, you are entitled to your opinion.

Don't think telling others to 'fuck off' for voicing an opinion is necessary.

Not a fan of our recent style of play but complaining about a manager who has us at fourth? Did someone say knee-jerk.

People were happy to boot manager that actually got us twice 4th in the final table. Way we are playing now there is snowballs chance in hell we will be in top 4 come may.

'The great fallacy is that the game is first and last about winning. It's nothing of the kind. The game is about glory. It's about doing things in style, with a flourish, about going out and beating the other lot, not waiting for them to die of boredom.' Danny Blanchflower

Can anyone remember when we last played a game 'the Spurs way'?

We are not flowing yet which is frustrating as the talent is unbelieveable. We are winning games but not convincingly. We are not creating chances for soldado. We are not incisive in any manner and we seem to be very slow in our build up play.

But... we are winning games. We are dominating possession and I think that forces tteams into parking the bus which is a real compliment. Avb needs to figure out his best team and formation and try to stick to that. He surely sees the issues that we see but for some reason it does not seem to be translating onto the pitch yet. Stilk early days and we are three points off the top!

Nevertheless avb has been given a massive pot of money and has spent it on improving the team. Its now down to him to get the team playing to his vision and turning us into challengers for the title.

We've got practically a new team with a different style of play, yes it's frustrating as hell at times, but we're 3 points off top with another clean sheet. I actually think Andre is doing it the right way, we're very hard to beat now, the flowing football will come when the team gels. (y)

There is a lot of moaning going on but when people actually look at what we're doing, achieving thus far, it's brilliant, 3pts off the top with an excellent defensive record, qualifying to the next stage of europa and league cups, all with the players still gelling.

I've never had such confidence in a Spurs manager before. And the results, if not the style yet, confirm that it isn't misplaced.

We want this club to push on to that next level? To try and establish itself for the long-term? Well, this is it. It's going to take a lot of hard work from everyone at the club and patience from the fans. No worries about former. The latter though...

Our best ever start to the Premier League I think I heard somewhere?
I think we need to bear with the manager and the team a bit longer guys.
Just my opinion

We're not playing swift passing attacking football, firstly because clean sheets mean you don't lose. And secondly, we have several me players getting used to each other with rotations every game. We haven;t got a settled XI and thus the combinations keep changing with each match. Liverpool and Arsenal have largely had settled squads for the most part.

Give it until the end of the season and see where we are if we continue this 'boring' style of football at the moment.

People were happy to boot manager that actually got us twice 4th in the final table. Way we are playing now there is snowballs chance in hell we will be in top 4 come may.

There was a multitude of reasons why some of us wanted Redknapp gone:
- His in ability to get the the team motivated to finish strongly in the second half of two seasons. Considering his man management and motivational skills are apparently his best qualities.
- Finishing his last season in relegation form.
- Blowing not one but two challenges for third place and finishing fourth.
- His poor man management.
- His in ability to effectively rotate his squad.
- Lack of any Plan B in games.
- His in ability to shut his mouth.
- Embroiling himself in a criminal investigation because his big mouth implicated himself.
- His in ability to shut his mouth when it came to transfers which scuppered more than a couple of big deals.
- Being shit tactically.

These are qualities AVB has demonstrated he is better at than Redknapp with out any of his bullshit.

The problem for me with AVB is that I think he needs to loosen up and maybe take the leash off some of our players and get them to express themselves and start playing to win rather than not to lose. Overall I am happy with how things have gone and our league position but I feel we need to start taking risks.

People have been talking about the team gelling, but I'm starting to wonder whether what we're seeing is pretty much the finished article, in AVB's eyes.

The reason I say this is because even though we're not brimming with attacking style, statistically we're going very well, even breaking a few records a long the way. We also have an immense defensive record, which is unheard of for a Tottenham team.

AVB has set us up to play patient, possession-football; he'll look at the stats and think "Things are going well; we're 3pts off 1st place in the Prem, and have conceded only 5 goals in 15 professional games".

And to be honest, he's entitled to say that when you take the results into account. It all depends if you like winning at the expense of exciting football.

For the record, I don't particularly mind a couple of seasons of boring football, if it cements our place in the top 4 for the next 10 - 20 years. I wouldn't want more than 2 seasons, though, because at some point football is supposed to be a fun hobby to enjoy; something to be entertained by.
