The system isn't the issue, the Conte system always works. Unless hes suddenly gone out of date.

The players aren't good enough to defend in their own box for this long. You need clean accurate precise dominant defenders and a GK who catches everything.
If the players aren't good enough for the system, and you can't change the players, then the problem is the system.

I think the system is hiding the weaknesses of these players.

It sounds like a contradiction but the system helps hide weaker players so you can get to 70 plus points but if you want to hit 80 or 90 points we are going to need a better quality of player.

I don't want to see Dier in a back 4 again, i've seen it, it's shit. I don't want to see Perisic as a winger or Ben Davies as a below average left-back. We have a lot of mediocre defenders that we are trying to hide in a back 5. We don't have any number 6's like Jorginho or Veratti that can control a game. We have one number 10 in Kulusevski who is dominant in the right sided half space but not seen him play anywhere else. Hes injured.

Are we suggesting yesterday we play 4-3-3

Lloris
Royal Romero Dier Sessegnon
PEH Bissouma Bentancur
Richarlison Kane Son
I mean that's three defensive midfielders. Dier is an awful defender in a back 4, Sessegnon is untested as a pure left-back. You can't play Perisic there.
Maybe you can play Richarlison at number 10 instead of Bissouma or Kane with Persic as a winger? That team not keeping the ball. We don't have any good passers in the squad.

Perisic could have played on the left of a midfield 3 - remember he is not a natural LWB - Conte turned him into one - but he had a pretty reasonable career prior to that. We could even have played 5-3-2 from the start to stifle them - instead we allowed them lots of possession in the attacking third of the pitch, that is bound to give them confidence. It makes no sense to me conceding possession around your own box, I get that you can try to dictate the areas where they play, buy you are heavily reliant upon all your defensive players doing their jobs - and the amount of possession they have means it is very intense for your defence, there is very little let up for them.

Of course we could have set up like ManU did at ManCity?.

Disgraceful watching so many ManU “supporters” leaving at half time - glory boys. At least their true supporters who stayed to the end got to see them win the second half 3-2!

Uncle’s a big Arsenal fan, said to me a couple of weeks ago Tottenham will be the big test for us to see if anything will be different this season. I said on the contrary Arsenal winning says little about them as the home team usually wins, Arsenal winning or not says much more about Tottenham if anything has changed….

Unfortunately it looks very much like same old which depresses me more than the actual result. Tbh I expected us to lose today, Arsenal are playing well, we have been struggling all season for any sort of form. I know we’re near the top but we’re not playing well. Yes it’s good to get results when you’re not playing well but as some point you have to show some sort of consistent form if you’re going to do anything trophy wise, especially in these 6 pointers…
And here are some stats to back up your argument:
The Gunners have lost just one of their last 29 league home games against Spurs (W17 D11) and are unbeaten in their last 11 against them at the Emirates Stadium since a 3-2 loss in November 2010. (https://theanalyst.com/2022/10/north-london-derby-stats-arsenal-tottenham/)

Absolutely correct. Agree with this.

You’re telling me at half time you wasn’t excited by what you saw? They were lucky to go in 1-1. We had by the best chances and thought they are there for the taking. We just needed to be slicker in the final third, but sadly we capitulated.
'Excited' is certainly not the word that occurs to me
'resigned' was more like it.
I thought with better passing and control of the ball
we might just snatch another on the break and pinch a draw.
But we defended too deep
asking for trouble which we duly got against lively forwards
The sending off was harsh
and the Hugo errors out of character.

Romero was very slow to react to the Jesus goal.
but Hugo should have dealt with the situation
His poor distribution is a real handicap.

Meslier was pretty dicy on Sunday by the way
came and missed 3 crosses though made some decent saves
Let's not jump out of frying pan too soon.

They had more possession but we were clearly happy with that.

I'd argue that in that first half we worked the ball into dangerous areas quicker than them but our front line isnt as sharp as it was at end of last season so moves kept breaking down.

Honestly, there is nothing wrong with our tactics. Its the effectiveness of our frontline.

Kane, for example, where have his defence splitting passes gone? Why is he no longer taking shots from all angles? Yesterday his passing was poor and he was overhitting passes that last season he does with ease.

He's scored 7 (which is fantastic) but they are not the wide range of goals we are accustomed to. 1 penalty, 4 headers, 1 tap in and 1 shot from about 16 yards. He doesn't seem to be doing what he was doing.

If he's adapting to be play more as a CF again, then Kulusevski has to play 100%.

Son and Richarlison can't play together unless Richarlison is the CF.

At the moment, it seems to be a case of chemistry that'll improve the more they play with each other.

And I think that's what let us down yesterday.

Maybe it's the instructions from the manager to change his game? Who knows.

this, not a surprise to lose, ever hopeful of a point, despite some shite ive read on here, i could really see us getting the 2nd goal before the red card.

Who's seen the video of the Ashburtan mugs having it on their toes and getting a slap from our boys and taking refuge in a pub?

Wannabe Palace mugs.
I don't condone violence, ?but they are annoying fuckers...?
