I also suspect our interest in Illarra is due to Poch's knowledge of the player from Spain.

He hasn't started that much in his 2 seasons in Madrid so Mitchell's black book and statistical analyses won't be that useful.

Poch will be fully aware of the player Illarra was when he played for Sociedad and for the Spanish u21s, and will likely be recommending him on that basis.

Could be wrong but didn't someone mention recently that a Liverpool based journo said there was nothing in the illaramendi link?

On top that hasn't Rodgers been quoted saying Lucas won't be replaced if he leaves?

Things worth considering. I maintain Arsenal and Chelsea are the main threats here. Maybe Sevilla if they sell the Polish fella.

How is Illarramendi a pipe dream? They are getting Kovacic, and Casemiro is signing a new contract (apparently). He's going to be 4th or 5th choice and they want to get rid of him. Not many teams have been linked to him and he wouldn't be sold for a ridiculous price.

I'm not saying it will happen, but in no way is it beyond the realms of possibility.

He's especially good in tight spaces. In fact he seems at his most comfortable when he's got 2 or 3 opposition players around him.

He has an excellent range of passing as well. Very Alonso-esque. His technical ability is truly exquisite, his skill set will have you thinking this guy is better suited to a more advanced role but don't let his silky skills fool you, he loves a tackle too. I think he'd be the perfect dmf for us, to be honest. By all accounts, his attitude is excellent as well. He always sends his mum flowers on Mother's Day and he often makes cups of tea for the ground staff. He's a real down to earth kinda fella.

I've never seen him play in my life.

dont know anything about the player, but I dont know why its not possible. he wants a chance to re-start his career, we have a good relationship with Real, we have been better than Liverpool recently save one year, and he'd at least casually be acquainted with Poch who speaks his language. And London beats the crap out of Liverpool.

Agreed, they are whoring him out. He'll leave, unfortunately despite being willing to join us we aren't enticing enough for him to jump at our offer.

We do have a chance though, especially after trix info.

Very impressed with this player. Just what we need in the middle of the park.

We've heard that other clubs are interested in him and I'm not surprised. We've also heard that he and/or his agents are waiting to see what's the best deal they can get. I understand that.

On the other hand, Spurs can offer Illarramendi regular first team football at a club with a well-respected coach and a group of talented, up-and-coming players. It's an ideal situation for Illarramendi to develop his game and once more be considered one of the best in his position.

Spurs need another strong talent in the middle of the park. And we need that player before the transfer window closes. Rabiot is another player that could fill that roll. Other names have been mentioned. Illarramendi and his advisors may want to wait for a better offer - but if he does so Spurs may take another course of action and bring in another player rather than waiting for Illarramendi to decide if he does or does not want to join the Club.

If Illarramendi is seriously considering joining Tottenham Hotspur then he may want to make up his mind sooner rather than later - because later may be too late.

Think he could be interested to move on, but doubt we can attract him. Levy probably will offer him a wage below Bentalebs.
If there is any chance, we have to go all in for him, would finally be an ambitious transfer.
Hope we have a good back up solution for Deadline Day though.

Levy will try to offer him a wage lower than bentalebs nephew.
