I'm normally all for giving managers more time and have defended AVB quite strongly on here up until now.

But the emphatic nature of our crapness on Sunday, coupled with the fact that the fans were already on his back just makes it look like there's no way back. Even if he won the next couple of games people would still not support him, and it just seems like we've reached that tipping point where there's no going back.

It's a shame because I really thought AVB was going to be our manager for a long time. But we still aren't that far away from top 4, the transfer window is coming up and I'm not sure I now see any benefit in giving him more time.

It'll be a bad bad day for the club if he is sacked as it will be confirmation of another wasted couple of years, but it just looks like there's not much choice anymore.

You are now where I was after West Ham.
Winning a few games didn't appease me at all. Then getting twatted by city put the nail in the coffin.
Yesterday the coffin wad cremated.

How I felt making my decision
sad-baby-o.gif

Not something I want, but I think it needs to happen.

Felt that way too voting yes haha. I really like AVB and wanted him to succeed so he could get one over Chelsea and prove them wrong about him. But it seems to have worked the other way.

Ok, here's what you do...

(1) Send the club a request to release a public statement that any 12 year old or retarded poster on spurs community blaming levy for..:
Trying Ramos when he did (considering his record and reputation)
Letting go of Redknapp (considering the England affair and motor mouth)
Taking a gamble on AVB (considering age, experience, continental knowledge (both of him and from him))
Signing any of Paulinho, Soldado, Eriksen, Holtby, Dembele, Lamela
Swapping Caulker for Chiriches
... Must first quote their posts from these events when they happened. Chances are they blew their miniscule load over each and every one of these events. Go on, if your honest, you probably would have made these choices too, or come up with something worse. Hindsight is wonderful, because after it happens you can actually use it. He has done that pretty well each time.

(2) So... Repeat 3 times in the mirror. You've done alright Dan. It doesn't always work but that doesn't mean you've done us wrong.

(3) Get on the blower to AVB, call him whatever name you want under the sun, like you do on here, then tell him he should dig deep, tell him that we are a special club, that we are the best fans in the world, and that we all want him to succeed, to be the greatest... just like we'd want for anyone else in his position. Proceed to arrange a meeting in person.

(3) Attend the meeting, whip out a pair of leather gloves from your pocket, slap him with them straight across the kisser, then order the following at the top of your voice:
Pick and play a best 11 consistently in the Premier league. That must include Lamela & Soldado as primary attackers, & Eriksen supporting.
Play blistering pace on the wings then play with width.
Play round pegs in round holes only (LBs at LB, RMs at RM, CMs at CM not AMC or AML, etc.), and if it isn't there due to availability play youth.
Enforce that it is now time to rest Paulinho for a few games, then let him to fight his way back in with better form. State that he can do, and he will do, and he will be better for it.
Now back hand those gloves back across the kisser. Grab his collar and pull him close. Whisper with malice; The premier league is always the priority.
Dust him down. Pat him hard on the back. Then leave without saying goodbye.

(4) Go home, bandage up that knee to stop that jerking that has been bothering you lately. Make yourself a hot cuppa/pick yourself uppa.

(5) Book an appointment to get that bloody annoying knee looked at, and while you're there mention that itchy index finger that keeps curling up and jolting back.

(6) Continue your avid and inspirational SUPPORT for THFC and all those involved.

(7) Hatch a plan B, a plan C and D for manager. Put contingencies in place. And watch very closely to see what happens.

Just going to throw a couple of spanners in the work here. Avb has actually got the highest win % of any spurs manager aside from Frank Bretell, and that we have more points than we had at the same time last season...

No we don't and longer this goes on, more his win% will fall. Seeing he took side that had finished 4th and his predecessor took over side that was bottom of the table, there seems to be quite little between them...

"Levy is to blame, he wants to be involved in everything. He has fallen out with AVB so its just time now" Not my words ;)

That last tweet was ITK

So we can change as many Managers as we like but it doesn't appear to be the crux of the problem...

And you wonder if the 'too many cooks' scenario has just been exacerbated by bringing in Baldini as well...

Id be happy for him to be sacked but I do hate us stumbling from one manager to the next, constantly chopping and changing, never gets us anywhere. That's Spurs I suppose.

That being said, I hate watching us play and I cant remember thinking that before. We are the worst type of football team, a team that doesnt score goals.

My Arsenal supporting friend had it right yesterday, he said watching us reminded him of watching England play, its that sense of slow paced frustration.

I never wanted AVB to start with but I have not done anything else but support him. I wanted Rodgers or Martinez, someone with a clear vision for the game, that being an attacking passing game.

Being shite at home doesn't help either.

Absolutely bang on!

The one thing we had under HR is that we knew MOST of the time we would play great football. Fast, flowing, attacking football that we all enjoy and as a result we scored goals.

I miss the days of being the team that could smash 5 past any team even if it meant that we were also prone to conceding 3 in the same game.

2 seasons ago we beat Liverpool 4-0 at home and were irresistible....those days are long gone at the moment

It would seem odd to me that Baldini was in favour of booting AVB, seeing as AVB was behind (or at least in favour of) Baldini's appointment... Yes, I'm a "more time" voter.

He has lost the board, he has lost the fans, some of the players like Vertonghen, Defoe etc seem fed up with him, don't see a way back now for him

a) Has he lost the board???

b) 50 odd people on here doesn't mean he's lost the fans

c) Vert is only cover. Does he like playing there? no. Will he play there to help the team? Yes.

d) Defoe will always be upset.

We must be one of the worst clubs a potential new manager can look at...high demanding fans who not only crave good results, but the results must be accomplished playing the best football of the world. On top of this we have a board who is not looking to spend any money outside what is absolute neccessary. And i forgot...if you should happen to get a bad run in form or results the chairman has almost the same impatience as the fans and will quickly remove you.

It's actually quite funny really. To be honest I don't care if he stays or goes and I don't care who comes in.

The players fuck us, the board fuck us, the manager fucks us and most annoyingly even our own fans fuck us. We're just the epitome of a fuck up.

That's a two way street Jermain
Why is it that Defoe gets flack for not scoring in the same shitty system that Soldado plays on under the same fuck whited manager and yet Soldado is starved.

Ffs neither of them score for the same bloody reason!

I'd like him to stay. But tangible progress must happen right away. I don't mean going from 0-60mph right away but simply visible progress in the play needs to start happening. We've been treading water, and in some aspects of our play have regressed this season. Even from games at the beginning of this season. The pressing game has gone for a Burton for example.

We got in AVB to coach a system and players. Be greater than the sum of our parts etc. I can live with weaknesses in other areas but I'm starting to doubt his effectiveness, not so much talent, as a coach if asked to do that and the whole job tbh.

Taken from a poster at COYS and credit goes to him. This sums up our situation imo.

- We've scored 15 goals in 16, and have a -6 GD

- We've lost 0-3 to West Ham, 6-0 to City & 0-5 to Liverpool

- We play slow methodical football, with no fluidity, no one supporting one another, no 1-2's, as they all stay in their 'zones'. All ingenuity & expression has been coached out if them.

- He never adapts our tactics to suit the players on the pitch. Like playing a high line with Dawson, having two right footers down the left, refusing to play to Soldado's strengths and chopping & changing for little reason.

- He's managed to turn the latter (a proven too class European striker) into one now snatching at half chances because he has been so starved of service.

- Lamela (one the the hottest prospects in football) looks like a lost lamb, and AVB hasn't a clue what to do with him, playing him occasionally, mostly out of position before dropping him the next time.

- His subs are often bizarre, and he still comes across as quite petulant & arrogant in interviews.

Last saturday, and after the midweek's demolition of Anzhi, the majority were praising the bouncebackability skills of AVB and his men. And now there's absolutely NO WAY back for him. I'm not saying he should stay or go right now, and I don't really know why I allow myself to get amazed about the fickleness and knee-jerk nature of football fans, but... I still do.

If AVB is sacked than Baldini has to go too, he's not entirely blameless in all this too. Levy also need to have a long look in the mirror. Some just awful decisions in the last 18 months!

Beyond the skill set to be a good manager you have to have 3 things. The backing of the board, the backing of the players and the backing of the fans.

If one of the three is out of place then your job is difficult but two is insurmountable which is where I feel we are now (if not all 3). There is no coming back now.

Don't forget the fans too. They must shoulder some blame. Perhaps we should just wind up.
