We need to get rid of some of these foreigners who don't have the right attitude and ability e.g. Pauliniho,Ade?
And what do we do with the english players who don't have the right attitude ? Like Naughton, Rose, Townsend ?

Well this went down like a led balloon. Think basically what I was trying to say is we need to sort our squad out a bit.

I don't think we should buy players born outside of Warmington-on-Sea...they just do not like it up 'em. Oh, no, captain Lloris, they don't like that cold steel up 'em! :)

But seriously...

The squad hasn't been put together in such an ad-hoc fashion as you say, IMHO.
It is filled with very good players. Not too sure if we can boast Modric, Bale and King level of quality as when Mr Redknapp inherited after a disastrous period with new players failing to settle, but it may yet be proven that we have. And, again IMHO, we have a greater depth than that time around.
Really, what we need is a head coach to take hold of our exciting young squad/youth set-up. The hope is that Mr Pochettino is that fella.

I agree with the OP
If AVB was given control over transfers and the bank account, our side would look like the following.

Lloris

Walker
Garay
Vertonghen
Coentrao

Paulinho
Moutinho

Hulk
James Rodriguez
Willian

Soldado

We would be challenging for the league... before going bankrupt the year after but that's not important.

So I'm currently riding a usual wave of Spurs pre-season optimism. I feel we made the right choice in manager,he's young plays football the right way and will get the best out of our squad.

But then I also feel pretty pissed off that our squad is in my opinion such a mess. Since we sacked arry we've sold our best 3 players:VDV,Bale,Modric, we have also lost or ousted one way or another very influential parts of a team that got us to a CL quarter final:King,Corluka,Parker,Defoe...we also broke up a strong spine of experienced internationals and British players who know the PL.

Arry knew how to build a team and a squad

I stopped reading there.

Arry knew how to collect a bunch of last pay day Mercenaries and run them into the ground with no squad rotation and no plan B.

He had a wealth of youth players available to him but didn't know how to coach them or use them to rotate the first team players so he sent them on loan to clubs that COULD coach and give them a game.

Bale & Modric were going to go no matter what.

I don't know where this scattergun theory comes from. We've had shocking luck with injuries to defensive players and we've not seen any major transfer movement yet. As far as I can see we actually have 2 players for every midfield position if we were going to be playing a midfield 5 with 2 DMs and 3 AMs, and 3 decent strike options.

The club can't be blamed for Benny burning his bridges and Dawson winning his place back - the only transfer I've not been able to understand is the sale of Caulker.

We've easily got the most talented squad outside of the top four, they just need a system and a coach that believes in his own system strongly enough to convince the players to pull it off.

And the fans to stop being such fickle fucks.

Not a single fan was saying no to Dembele, Soldado, Paulinho or Lamela before we signed them - players need backing from the fans, not groaning and discontent at every touch of the ball.

Arry knew how to build a team and a squad and since he left we have adopted a scattergun approach to hiring players which does not work. We have bought players not thinking about how they may fit not only into the system but also how they will work with the current blend in the squad.

We have since then bought some class players who we still have and can build a good team around: Lloris,Vergthongen,Lamela?,Eriksen etc.

We need to get rid of some of these foreigners who don't have the right attitude and ability e.g. Pauliniho,Ade? Etc and bring in a few more with prem experience Davies is a good start and ones in positions we need to strengthen who will balance the squad.

It's not a disaster but as good a coach as Poch might be he has a bit of a mess of a squad on his hands. Player recruitment is so so key at a club and this director of football shit means we take 1 step forward 4 back time after time.

If Poch is the right man and starts getting performances and results I say get rid of Baldino and bloody leave the manager to it.

COYS,

I'm not sure why you are receiving such a backlash, maybe because some people want pure positivity. I don't totally agree with what you are saying but there are certainly question marks over some of the new players.

Paulinho, Soldado, Chadil, Lamela. Out of those I'm confident that Lamela will make it. Verts, his attitude was questionable last season. Dembele, good but not good enough about to start his third season with his hip not sorted. Sandro, I like him but the dude is always injured.

Lennon, purely a speed merchant, can't cross, can't shoot that isn't good enough for a winger.
Rose not good enough and has a questionable attitude. Naughton, good attitude but not the ability. Townsend good attitude, some ability there I'd like to see what Poch can do with him.
Dawson, fantastic attitude, ability is lacking but I'm not against him staying if he wants to stay.
Holtby, I think could be a future captain, he has a winning attitude and he does have the ability.

Ade certainly has ability but I'd certainly question his attitude. That goal that him and Paulinho let in against West ham was something I'm not going to forget.

As for the DoF my impression is he has little or no influence at all. The players that we are linked with are not very inspiring but the window is not over yet. I don't think we need to go crazy with spending, we need just to get one or two in.
