17:53 GOAL - Cardiff 0-1 Tottenham - Paulinho
Jubilation among the travelling fans. They have been made to wait, but the goal when it comes is a good-looking one as well. Lewis Holtby slips in Erik Lamela down the side and the Argentine's low cross is flicked into the net by Paulinho. Brilliant improvisation. That was Spurs' 24 attempt at goal.

Cardiff play host to Tottenham hoping to maintain their unbeaten home record in the Premier League.
Cardiff have shown they are more than a match for the Premier League big boys on home soil as they prepare to welcome Tottenham to the Cardiff City Stadium.
Malky Mackay's men picked up their only win of the season to date with an impressive 3-2 success over Manchester City and they have also drawn with Everton at home.
Cardiff have drawn their last two Premier League outings and they will be hoping to capitalise on any tiredness in the Tottenham ranks following their Europa League exploits.
Tottenham bounced back from their north London derby defeat by Arsenal with a 2-0 win over Norwich and they will be looking to keep pace with the leading pack with another three points at Cardiff.
Andre Villas-Boas shuffled his pack in midweek against Tromso and all his top stars are set to return to the starting line-up as Spurs look to record another victory over one of the Premier League new boys following their opening day win over Crystal Palace
Tottenham were impressive last week and could have beaten Norwich by any score. Plus they look solid and have only let in one goal all season. Andre Villas-Boas looks like a Mourinho apprentice and has made sure his team are hard to beat, which is the way to do it in this league because nobody will score three or four every week.
But Cardiff is a hard place to go, especially after playing in the Europa League on Thursday night. The manager is already moaning that they've got to play Thursday-Sunday-Tuesday and that could carry through to the players. It's a hard one to call because I don't see how Tottenham will fail to create chances and I'm going to go for a draw - but if I had to pick someone to win I would say Tottenham. I've been impressed with them and I think they've got every chance of winning this Premier League.

Tottenham
Left-back Danny Rose is a big doubt for Tottenham after he limped off in Thursday night's Europa League clash against Tromso with an ankle injury.
Defender Younes Kaboul (adductor) and midfielder Mousa Dembele (ankle) also came off against the Norwegians, but manager Andre Villas-Boas is confident both will be fit for the trip to Wales.
Etienne Capoue (ankle) and Aaron Lennon (foot) are out, winger Nacer Chadli (adductor) is doubtful, but defender Vlad Chiriches could make his debut after finally receiving his work permit.

Norwich
David Marshall is set to return to the Cardiff starting line-up for Sunday's meeting with Tottenham.
The Scotland keeper missed the draw at Hull after picking up a hip injury on international duty, but he is back to full fitness, along with Craig Bellamy.
But striker Andreas Cornelius remains on the sidelines with the ankle injury he suffered at Accrington in the Capital One Cup.

Cardiff goalkeeper David Marshall is expected to return to the starting line-up after missing the draw at Hull with a hip injury.
Craig Bellamy is fit again, but Andreas Cornelius remains sidelined.
Mousa Dembele and Younes Kaboul should be available despite limping off against Tromso in the Europa League.
Danny Rose hurt his ankle in that game and is expected to miss out, but Vlad Chiriches could make his debut after finally receiving a work permit.

Head-to-head
  • This is the first meeting between the clubs in the league since the 1977-78 season when they met in the old Division Two. They haven't met in the top flight since the 1961-62 campaign when Tottenham were the defending champions. They drew 1-1 at Ninian Park and Spurs won 3-2 at White Hart Lane.
  • Tottenham haven't won away at Cardiff in five attempts in all competitions since 1957.
  • Their last meeting was in the FA Cup third round in 2007. Tottenham drew 0-0 in Cardiff before winning the replay 4-0.
Cardiff City
  • Cardiff had the best home record in the Championship last season and are unbeaten in their last nine league matches at Cardiff City Stadium (W3, D6).
  • They have played the highest proportion of long passes in the Premier League this season (15.4%).
  • Fraizer Campbell played 10 Premier League matches on loan at Tottenham in 2008-09, scoring one goal. Steven Caulker started 17 Premier League matches for Spurs last season, scoring twice.
  • Against Hull, Peter Whittingham scored his first Premier League goal since 6 November 2004 - a span of 3,234 days.
Tottenham
  • Andre Villas-Boas' side won all six of their Premier League games against newly-promoted sides in 2012-13.
  • Spurs have scored twice in five of their last seven away games in the league.
  • Entering this weekend's fixtures, Tottenham have had the most shots in the top flight (59 excluding blocked) and have allowed the fewest shots of any team (7.3 per game) this season.
  • Christian Eriksen has created four goals in his five league appearances in 2013-14 (Premier League and Eredivisie combined).

I always had a downer on Clattenburg because of the Mendes incident.

He has gone up in my estimation since the telling of his treatment by the Chelsea shitbird mugs.

Ha, that pic ages AVB by about 10 years. With our defensive shape, especially in midfield now, I can't see us not winning this although it won't be a walk in the park.

We have to score first and preferably early. Their crowd can be immense, especially if they get a sniff of victory.

I am tipping 1-0 spurs win. Soldado to shut up any possible critics with a superbly taken goal.

I'm sure you know Chris, but your banner has the wrong date on it for the match. At work for this one tomorrow so another BBC sport text update viewing for me. Just hoping for a good result.

Good luck to any of our fans going to the game. Some of the Cardiff fans are knuckle dragging thugs.

I've seen Cardiff fans at a preseason friendly (!) with no one to fight so they fought amongst themselves....

They are one of the worst fanbases in Britain.

And they have a ton of "plastics" from up in the valleys (where I live) who have suddenly become "life long Cardiff fans" since they started getting to cup finals and now the top flight... happy days.

Can't say I agree with this. They've kicked all the hooligans out and there's hardly been any trouble there for a good few years now. They won football league family club of the year last season and in 2011 as well I think!

Can't see anyone getting any trouble in or around the ground at all but some of these thugs will still be around the city centre so anyone going might want to keep a lowish profile when drinking before or after the game. Should be fine most places though.

Fair enough. Must have been quite a recent change though as up until very recently Cardiff fans regularly caused more trouble in Bristol (where I've lived for the last few years) than any other group of away supporters.

There was also a lot of trouble with Cardiff fans a few years ago when Spurs played them in the FA cup, both in Cardiff and the replay in London.

It's probably within the last 3 or 4 years that they really started to clamp down on it. Cardiff Bristol has always been a bit of bad one. They regard it as a bit of a local derby bizarrely.

Looks like the chief medical officer in my old company after eight days in the woods where near 200 men had it coming out both ends - incuding us medics... Worst. Week. Evah. Still got this "might be knee deep in his own shit, not having slept for a week, soaked cold and bruised - but you´d still follow him to the end of the earth"-thing going for him. AVB
