Honestly though, isn't this season different somehow. The match threads used to start out with more optimism, cautious excitement and then descend into frothing and tantrums as the match wore on. Now it seems to start out very negatively and picks up in outlook and tempo as the minutes tick by.

I am well happy that Kane is plan b over Adebayor. Talk about cutting off your nose to spite your face...

I'm hoping this means he will come on and score now.

Yeah, once again we have effectively left ourselves with 2 strikers despite spending over £100m.

I'm no Ade fan and would be quite happy if he left but AVB's stand is only beneficial if we have already replaced him.

Obviously he's clogging up the wage bill but one injury and we are left with Kane as our bench option. That's simply not good enough if you want to challenge at the top end of the table.

I think the matter of Townsend shooting repeatedly from 25-40 yards is going to be an issue again today. I've seen some people speculate that he'd reign it in, but if you think about it, why would he? He knows Lamela is likely to eventually displace him, so why not take 6-8 cracks in the next few games he'll start (especially if he genuinely believes he can score from them). If Townsend happens to score, it'll make dropping him very difficult, so I could see his desire to try at least 4-5 in the first half today.

Hypotheticals. If we'd played X instead of Y...

We won and dominated. Lets win and dominate today.

Yes it is a hypothetical but we dominated but didn't have that many clear cut chances, certainly not as many as we should have. I don't hate the lad, scored some goals for us but his overall game is not good enough and what about the games he doesn't score 2 or 1? he is anonymous and ineffective and does not suit or fit our style of play he would do great somewhere else where they can deploy him in a role more suited to his talents and build a game plan around him but that isn't THFC. Yes lets hope we do, lets hope im wrong and he scores two more and contributes with linking up the play excellently, persistently beating his man and getting in some decent crosses providing a constant thorn in cardiffs side.

Guys, we don't have any complete donkeys in the squad anymore - they're all good players who are more than capable of doing a job against newly promoted Cardiff

Just sit back and enjoy the football :)

No idea but then again, I've been one of those on here who think Sigs is a good player since we signed him and wanted to sign him before we did. I readily admit that he didn't show it often last season and was as frustrated as anyone at times. If someone doesn't rate him much then fair enough and we'll obviously see things differently.

The fact remains he scored the goals that won us the 3 pts last season and no amount of what ifs or temporal shenanigans will change that. Just the way it was seemingly casually dismissed tickled me is all. No harm meant.

fair enough mate, i don't exactly have a way with words!
