Don't think we'll go for Cambiasso or Carrick. I understand the sentiment that people are employing in suggesting them, but you have to remember that Pochettino is also pretty rigid in regard to his system, and neither of those two players have the legs to play in the system.

CM - McCarthy/Rabiot
CF/WF - Berahino

Wildcard - Llorente for a plan B experienced head for late in games to defend corners/ direct option in opposition box.

Carrick. Remy. Berahino.

Since I'm 4 years clean of Football Manager I can't come out with fancy names anymore.

I find it intriguing when suggested incoming players are touted as being able to teach other players something.

Really ? They have the time to take aside other players and teach them something ? Don't we have teachers / coaches who do that ?

Baffling.

Not really they can help tactically, making sure there in the right position teach them game management, make sure they can adapt to different situations, and give confidence if you don't think Milo's, winks Carroll Onomah could not learn from michael carrick how he reads the game stays calm under pressure he has a lot to offer.

I'd love to see Carrick back at the lane. It makes sense on so many levels. A player with his personality and experience would have such a positive impact on the squad. He's also won more than our whole squad put together. 5 EPLs and 1 CL. When's the last time we had a player on our books with that kind of record?

However, I suspect he may struggle with Poch's pressing and they wouldn't consider him as a result.

I think carrick is good enough to adapt, he might not have the legs but his exp and brain plus he was by far united best player last season.

Wonder if we would look at lambert?

Alongside a younger wf/st, he could be our 'drogba'. Experienced head that the manager trusts.

Grzegorz Krychowiak/Hojbjerg, Timo Werner & Breel Embolo for me. Definitely.

Reduced to semi realistic now
CM - McCarthy
WF/CF - Berahino
CF - Austin
And I've actually convinced myself they'd be a decent fit.

I like the fact that we seem very keen on Berahino and McCarthy, both very good players, both used to the PL, both ambitious, both still young and nowhere near their peak years. I think we need them and two others, one only is tough, I think we need another quality CM so Rabiot would be a great addition, we need a bit more pace and attacking option so Njie would be a great option but we need attacking players that can support the central midfield but who also has quality in their game but most of all we need more character drive and desire so my third player would be Iker Muniain

You think we need to make four signings? Two CMs and two wing forward/striker options?

So I see our current first team squad as:

GK: Lloris, Vorm
RB: Walker, Trippier, Yedlin
LB: Rose, Davies
CB: Vertonghen, Alderweireld, Dier, Wimmer, Fazio, Chiriches
CM: Mason, Bentaleb, Dembele, Carroll
AM: Eriksen, Pritchard, Alli
WF: Chadli, Lamela, Townsend, Lennon
CF: Kane, Adebayor, Soldado

There are obviously additional yoofs who may get the odd game, but the above are the ones who would make the core squad.

The ones in bold are those that I expect us to try and sell (or in the case of Yedlin loan out) and if we do that it leaves us with only 20 players, which seems a bit light.

If we did get rid of all of those players then I'd say we need at least one CM, a striker, and a wide player, but we could potentially do with two more CMs, as I remain unconvinced by both Dembele and Mason in a midfield 2.

So whilst it seems like we've done a lot already (and we have) I still think there's quite a bit to do.

I doubt anyone will match the players we actually get, but for me I'd go:

McCarthy, Berahino, Werner/Njie and then another central midfielder. Possibly Rabiot.
