Rovers shun Bentley bids

Blackburn have confirmed they have turned down bids for both David Bentley and Stephen Warnock.

Aston Villa and Tottenham have both made moves for England star Bentley - who has already stated his desire to quit the Lancashire club.

However, Rovers want the 23-year-old to stay put and have shunned both offers.

"We've had bids from two clubs for David Bentley; one when Mark Hughes was manager, and the other very recently. They have both been rejected," said Rovers chairman John Williams.

Sky Sports News understands that the second club to have a bid rejected for Bentley was Spurs

Or that we think we can get him for £9m. As bubble says, he might refuse to go to villa even if they offer more

I would not like us to miss out on Bentley especially considering the quality we have going out of the club....I expect we will end up paying 12/13m. I suppose we need to be patient. Message board chat gives us unreasonable time expectations in this instant throw away society. The common thing about Bentley, O'Hara and Taraabt is that all have a wonderful 'touch' and quick feet. That said we still need to buy a 'get your foot in' player for balance.

Taraabt is skillful, but does too much and keeps losing the ball. I still think a year on loan might do him good, say at Stoke, Hull etc. Bentley and O'Hara just don't have any pace though, and that's what you really need to break through defences and be successful..

Bentley may put in a good cross or set piece; who's going to be there to exploit it? At least Lennon's pace can get a whole defence turned and panicky. And please don't tell me he can't cross. He's still young and I saw enough last season to make me believe it's improving and will continue to. He scored in the last friendly with his head for crying out loud. Ramos will make him work on his weaknesses, I'm convinced of it.

now is certainly the time for players like Lennon & Bent to come to the fore - to work harder than they've ever done before - we'll need them big-time and this is their opprtunity -

cue Churchillian voice - now is the hour, the darkest hour, be prepared for blood, sweat and tears, remember life is not all fucking go karts and beach parties ...

Well Roberts is sure Berbatoff is gone by next week for 28 mil! Wont rule out Villa! Padylchenko enquiry and Bentley in! With the possibility of Capel as well!

He's on at the moment mate- said this about an hour ago. Has since stated thats Berb to Utd will happen next week for 28million. He seems pretty sure of it too and i wouldnt want to doubt anything Graham Roberts says as i respect anyone who loves the club like Roberts does!

Not wise, Roberts is a media clown and ITK's are saying that he's the last person who'd know what was going on inside the club.

I wouldnt say that to his face though! haha! Media clown is a bit harsh- whether his info is accurate or not at least he always speaks up for Spurs when the rest of the media slates us and takes the p*ss. Also gotta love his quote- 'I'd run through brick walls for spurs' not many of the current lot have the desire to play for the shirt that he did thats for sure! but i take your point...
