You can blame all the managers you want, but this has been a gutless, prideless, embarrassing showing from the players. It's the worst display I've seen in years considering this is a full strength team out there. No one wants the ball, no one wants to make runs, and nobody looks like they give a shit.

Nah blame the manager, clearly that’s the problem since we’ve only had 5 of them since we’ve been good.

Conte has nearly won more personally than our whole club. You could tell from that press conference that there is something majorly wrong with this squad. Don’t agree with everything Conte did, like not taking blame for his part, but he was not wrong.

Watching them trying to pass the ball around at the back was hilarious. Proper clowns at the circus routine. Then Sanchez comes on to do Bambi on Ice
What the **** was that about? Keystone cops stuff.

What are these boys doing in training?

Would love to see footage of Mason’s reaction when the goal went in.

Don’t they say the definition of insanity is doing the same thing and expecting different results?

Conte’s disciple assisted by a bloke who proved as a player he has not a shred of intelligence.

What did you expect?

Brighton will beat us
PEH and Skipp will need travel sickness pills before that game as Brighton will run circles around them.

Against a team with intelligent off the ball movement and quick passing I really fear for us...

I agree that the tactics are an issue but I also think it’s the mentality that is coursing through the whole club.

Cowards, that’s the easiest way to put it.

There is an establishment that needs binning off.

Hugo, Dier, Sanchez, Hojbjerg, Lucas.

Too many mediocre players have been here for too long.
Actually no need to play any of those players today apart from maybe Dier

So the manager has to take part of the blame

And that's without even talking about the tactics during the game

It really didn’t seem gutless or disgusting tbh, the players tried hard but they lack a bit of quality and also the system is restricting them big time.

Completely disagree these players don’t care, they were all putting in a shift. I’ve seen teams who aren’t giving 100% or are bad eggs but this is not one of them.
I said recently that i thought the team definitely lacks quality but that I didn’t think they weren’t trying. Well tonight was the first time I saw them phoning it in. That was as bad as it gets. Gutless is the right word. No one wanted the ball, all relying on someone else to do something. Short of kicking the ball in their own net, Everton could not have done any more to give that game to us. And yet, playing against 10 men, to a shit team at the bottom of the table, we retreated, couldn’t pass a football and, of course, conceded a screamer from a centre back.

Don’t get me wrong, the system is shit and it doesn’t vindicate Conte, for me, but that was as pathetic a performance as I can remember, and there’s a long list in contention for that honour. Abysmal from everyone involved - every player on the pitch, Stellini for overseeing it, and Levy for not having the bollocks to clear the decks after getting rid of Conte. I’m not sure how it can get much worse now but no doubt we’ll find a way.

By the way, just picked up on the tone of this post and not a dig at you at all. Can’t wait to watch us on Saturday…

If Lloris has any intelligence and dignity he should have long voiced out against this play because it just accentuates his short comings as well as his defenders'. You don't keep doing what's worse of you at work if there's no improvement despite trying continuously. Unbelievable.

You are gutless if you play in midfield against 10 men and you keep passing the ball backwards
Nit if you are constantly miles from the forwards . Skipp and Hojbjerg are too deep all the time.and don't link midfield to attack. That is our major gap.

I agree with a lot of your posts mate but sorry i disagree on this topic. Tactics don't help but thats the players bottling as usual.
Fair mate completely entitled to your opinion bud 💙

Personally I think it’s 70% down to the tactics and maybe 30% down to lack of quality of some of the players and possibly weak mentality of a few of them but people who keep grouping all of them together saying they’re not trying or are ‘pathetic’ etc I can’t get on board with that.

I’ve seen plenty of spineless spurs sides of the years or teams who aren’t trying 💯 because the manager has lost the dressing room. I think these players are lacking confidence and lacking freedom tactically and we keep having the distances between players far too large and players have no options to pass to and we are being told to drop off into this deep rigid 5-4-1 it’s exactly the same as before.

11 v 10 is nothing about tactics. It’s about desire and effort to maintain and counter act the extra effort the 10 man opponents will try put in to compensate for being a man down.

it’s about mentality and being calm under pressure, where if you don’t panic and you look to keep the ball and make use of the extra man and space, it doesn’t matter what effort the opposition put in, they can’t get near the ball.

Most of our players cannot play under pressure, no matter what formation or system we put out.
