'Spurs have now conceded 10 goals in the final 15 minutes of Premier League matches this season, more than any other team. That is a bad habit to be in.'

Once, twice... Even thrice is bad luck. But 10?

It's something that can't be ignored and has to be tackled. You can visibly see the change as SOON as we score; it's crazy.

If we don't change it we will continually throw points after points away.

The worrying thing is I don't think anyone can definitively pinpoint the reasoning behind it

I think the main reason is our lack of keeping possession and just plain stupidity

I'm not blaming Verts at all because a game is 90 minutes long but watch the last 5 minutes again, rite before there 1st goal we're in possession pinging it around nice like then for no reason at all because we need possession more than anything at this point Verts tries some 20 or 30 yard through ball that was never going to find it's target.....

Little decisions like that are turning points, if we keep possession then they don't score simple really. The subs were fine all good ball players to help keep possession but it only takes one bad pass or decision to fuck it all up. In tight games the top teams close the game out by playing keep ball and pushing the other team back through chasing shadows. It's clear as day AVB wanted to keep possession through the players he brought on but it only takes one player to give the ball away.

For me the main problem is our overall work ethic. Most games we look to casual just trying to coast along doing exactly enough but never more.
Look at the other games today, both manchester clubs and wham vs pool, all teams run so much and work so hard.

I miss that from spurs.

We looked very toothless going forward in the first half, and while we were better in the second half, we never created really good goal-scoring chances.

I think the one indispensable player in this squad is Bale. He is the only true match-winner who can turn a game on his own. I also think the conceding late comes down to mentality, plain and simple. Losing Rafa hurt us badly in this regard, and Parker is desperately needed out there to show bottle late in matches.

Those of you expecting signings are going to be disappointed, in my opinion. My guess is, we'll be hearing a talking point along the lines "Kaboul, Parker, and BAE are all like new signings," with no real incoming transfers in January. In the past that would've infuriated me, but I've come to realize we simply will not deficit spend in search of a top 4 finish.

That is very bad luck for us. Had Gylfi's shot gone in, we'd have won with a clean sheet.

Just for the record, before the usual suspects come in to illuminate all our lives by telling everyone how they are right and everyone else is wrong..............I have an 11 inch chopper.

I don't think it's any coincidence that as a team (and for several seasons now) even under Jol, Ramos, Redknapp etc, we leak goals at an alarming rate. Dawson and King were / are always injured. With the exception of King, I don't think we have really had anyone at CB deserving of being in a top 4/5 team either. Its been an eternity since we had a settled, decent CB pairing and its a personnel thing rather than a manager thing IMO.

Gallas was a band aid as such, Kaboul not bad but still unproven really and yet another sick note. Having said all of this, an away loss at Everton is gutting, but lets just hope the hierarchy learn from these last minute losses and likewise look to continue to ship out the dead wood in January. We still have far too much of it if we want to be genuine contenders.

I hope that's not the case, because I think today perfectly showed why our squad isn't good enough - lack of quality depth on the bench. We had no match winners to bring on, no creative spark to explode from the bench and the three returning players you mentioned above don't fit that criteria.

Just read back over the posts from when Dempsey scored until two minutes from the end...a lot of happy punters.
It's funny how things can change. If Everton hadn't scored 2 in quick succession ( yes, I know we always, blah, blah ...last 10 minutes, blah) the whole mood would be different, and kdspur would be nowhere to be seen.
It's called football. In a few weeks time everyone will be happy again. A few weeks after that - misery .....and so on, and so on.

I've got kdspur on ignore so for me he's nowhere to be seen. (y)

It's really bunching up now from 4th to 12th. After last weekend's good results, this weekend has been gash for us.

No, but they might help us to stop conceding so many late goals.

You didn't find the substitutions just a little perplexing, to put it mildly? Even if we'd held on you'd have had to ask why he brought Hudd on for Lennon and saddled us with a midfield with no pace at all. And then Falque on for Defoe at the death? Townsend was on the bench—why not bring him on at HT to relieve the pressure on the left? Sure, Caulker was at fault, but it sounded as if we'd dropped deeper and deeper again.

You're expecting us to sign four new CBs in January? Honestly?

Huddlestone coming on was odd but Lennon was knackered from tracking back all the time. I would've brought Sig on instead for a straight swap with Lennon. Defoe did nothing second half and we actually looked much better after he went off - Everton didn't create any real sustained pressure, their crowd were fucked off and we were looking very comfortable at 1 - 0. The equaliser wasn't one you 'could see coming' based on the previous 10 minutes of play.

A poor clearance from Caulker when Lloris was there and a poor headed touch by Verts exposed us for the equaliser - individual errors that I can't blame AVB for. Then the winner came from a hopeful ball up - job done.
Townsend is not overly interested in working back from what I've seen - I certainly wouldn't have used him relieve the pressure on the left.

Everton created next to nothing same as us - a draw would've been fair all things considered.

--------------Lloris
Walker-Kabs---Verts-BAE.

Needs that back 5 fit and healthy and a chance to actually play together for a run of games. The understanding and stability at the back will come from that.
