I think we're likely to see this circle of movement:

Llorente to Spurs
Janssen to West Brom
Chadli to Swansea

Amazing to think Chadli and Janssen would move for the same sum that we signed Erik Lamela for 4 years ago and some people still obsess about having paid!

I get the points you mention, but he's gonna be a bit part player right? How many of those multitudes of corners and set pieces will he be on for? How much longer does he have in his legs? He may have played in a high press in 11-12, but that was 6 years ago when he was 26. He's 32 now, can he really do that? And how long for?

I don't doubt for the short term he'd be a useful addition to the squad, but I'm just not sure it makes long term sense.
He's 32 so clearly it's not a long term signing. If Man Utd can give ibra a new contract at 35 I see no problem with us signing a 32yo

It's certainly not going to do hungry young players like Kane, Alli, Foyth, Winks, Dier, KWP any harm having someone in the squad who's won three Serie As, a world cup, a Euro cup, a Europa League and god knows what else to learn from.

There isn't a younger or better option out there who we could get. Not a player I'd really thought of beforehand, but it makes total sense. Gives us a totally different option plus he will score. If we lost Kane for any short period I certainly won't be as nervous as I was last season. Sensible buy in my opinion

The more I think about this signing the happier I get. He has impressed me every time I have watched him. He is a brute of a forward who just bullies defenders and he is exceptional in the air. Would be a fantastic option for us from the bench and he has vast top level experience which can only help to bring our younger players on. Let's get it done.

I would have thought Llorente or a pacy forward but not both

Certainly not, I believe this has come about due to interest in Janssen and is an oportunistic transfer and not part of our original plan for this window

Yes agree I have said we need experience in the team, also PL experience. I guess all I will say is I would rather him than Janson so at least it's a slight improvement to the squad.

I thought most of his goals were headers, whereas we play mainly on the ground? I could be wrong. I was hoping for a younger wing forward. Maybe that's still to come.

With the addition of Aurier, we would have two right backs who are pretty good at picking out a cross for him. Oh and some suggesting his lack of pace is a problem...it's not, especially if we sign a WF who is rapid enough to supply him.
