Struggling to see Chelsea letting another Conte target slip away. The only way he comes to us in this situation is if we are going to guarantee playing time - something Chelsea were unable or unwilling to do with Batshuiy?

Doesn't look good to me, and having read the article I can't believe we really thought we could pull this off.

So I wonder what the purpose of this bid really was.

I still get the feeling Chelsea are gonna stiff us again late on deadline day and snatch him

It wouldn't really be them stiffing us? They're the ones that have been after him for months - we'd be gazumping them. If it doesn't come off, it's not like we got rogered.

Gotta say I think we're wasting our time on this one, he's bound to go to Chelsea once they agree a fee. We won't be able to match them wages wise!

I think Llorente would be a good signing for us, but worst case scenario is that we don't sign him and keep Janssen. It's not the end of the world.

Only way we can beat Chelsea to llorente is if Swansea need /want Vincent? Swansea could then justify blocking move to other than us?

BBC Wales correspondent said Janssen won't go to Swansea.

If Fernando Llorente ends up going to Tottenham, Vincent Janssen will be available but won't be moving the other way to join Swansea.

Doesn't surprise me if the player does prefer Chelsea with the Conte link. Just hoping we have a shout due to their pretty strict policies on over 30s

£15m for a 32 yr old with no sell on value, plus wages on top!!! I really hope we put the money to someone younger with pace.
Rather have Llorente for a couple of years who is a proven goalscorer than a random N'<insert namn here> from the French league who will make an odd appearance before sold.

SPURS FAVOURITES TO BEAT CHELSEA TO £15 MILLION FERNANDO LLORENTE TRANSFER

The Swans striker is ready to snub the Premier League champions as he edges closer to his exit from South Wales on transfer deadline day

Tottenham are favourites to beat Chelsea to the £15 million signing of Fernando Llorente after hijacking their London rivals' deal on transfer deadline day, Goal understands.

The Swansea City striker, 32, will be back up for lead striker Harry Kane as Mauricio Pochettino's side heap more transfer misery on Antonio Conte after the Blues lost out on Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain less than 24 hours ago.

Arsenal had accepted a bid of £35m from Chelsea for Oxlade-Chamberlain but he opted to reject the Stamford Bridge club for Liverpool.

Llorente has had a stronger approach - after Chelsea had much of the deal agreed without making a formal offer, he is closer to moving to Spurs instead of the Premier League champions.

The deal is yet to be fully completed and Chelsea will remain hopeful, but Llorente looks to have made his decision having been offered a more prominent role under Pochettino.

Chelsea still have Alvaro Morata and Michy Batshuayi on their books, with Diego Costa's move to Atletico Madrid still a possibility due to the Spanish window closing on Friday instead of Thursday.

You got some statistical evidence to back that up?

He's 32 so clearly it's not a long term signing. If Man Utd can give ibra a new contract at 35 I see no problem with us signing a 32yo

This is a good point actually, never thought of it like that!

Gut instinct is this is the wrong move, but if we bring in a super fast winger as well, I'll deal with it.
