If you are someone who is skeptical about this signing, please read my lengthy post on page 3 of this thread walking through why it makes a lot of sense. If you don't want to read that post, then just consider this:

Antonio Conte, who is arguably the best manager in world football and has managed Llorente before at Juventus, has wanted to sign Llorente since the January transfer window for a squad that won 30 Premier League matches last season. When Pochettino and Conte both want the same player, then frankly, that should be enough to know that said player is someone who will help a title winning squad.

I don't get the fit.

Please read my post on the 3rd page of this thread. I lay out why Pochettino wants him in detailed terms. If you're still skeptical, then fair play. But I suspect it might sway you a bit.

Sounds like a sensible option....

But if Chelsea really want him it sounds like they just need to send a truckload of roubles down the M4 and they'll get him...

Good player definitely better than Jansen but would have preferred someone younger ,more mobile and quicker to give us a different option or partner to Kane. Very unspurs like signing

I like it. Experience, proven goal scorer, gives us a bit of a physical presence and a solid plan B which we don't have currently. What's not to like?

Also he has great eyes.

Not a signing that fits in with our transfer strategy. Fee may not be huge, but there'll be little to no sell on, and I'd imagine he'd want a fair wage. Very un Levy'esque.

Don't see Llorente deal going over the line, if there is a real fight on cards with Chelsea, especially because Llorente prefers Chavs

There seems to be issues at Chelsea between what Conte wants and what the club management is willing to do. I think it was Duncan Castles who mentioned in a podcast recently that Conte wanted older Italian players to help shape his squad, but that others at the club wanted younger, English players. He mentioned that Conte doesn't really want Danny Drinkwater, but that he is essentially being forced on him. Who knows if that's true, but knowing Conte's history of transfers and his clear frustration over the transfer window thus far, it seems spot on to me.

Weird why some don't understand this deal. He's experienced, a different type of player to Kane , can score in the premier league but at his age knows he won't be playing every match (and nobody will with Kane in the team). On top of that he gets another go in the champions league.

Makes sense to me,we either have to go for a player who is older and doesn't expect to play every game or one who is very young that again won't expect to start every game.

Few years ago id have been ecstatic, like others don't see how it fits our system, supersub? Good player wont lose any sleep if we don't sign him, think weve other areas of concern that need prioritising.
