Voted Holbjerg.

Read first few posts. Looked at my shoes. Had a word with myself. Changed vote to Kane.

Sorry Harry.
I think it depends on your outlook. Kane is clearly the best player individually and his stats bear that out but when you voted Pierre initially I bet it was more to do with his influence on the team as a whole rather than his individual attributes. He's not scoring goals, dribbling around people like they are not there and only has a couple of assists, but he does so much unseen work which has made us a better team overall. This is the thing that makes a vote like this more tricky.

Kane for me.

A handful of players are putting in outstanding performances, but overall I feel our team are cruising in 3rd gear. We need to ramp it up and push on in the second half of the season. Too many draws from not killing off games and then conceding silly goals.

Yeah Kane's been good, but Alfie Whiteman has been absolutely flawless every time he's stepped on the pitch...

Kane has been unreal, performance wise amazing. But PEH is my MVP so far purely because of the balance he has brought us.

Probably Dele for me, he's clearly the fans player of the year by a mile ...

Kane without a shadow of a doubt. Aside from his outrageous goal involvement per match, the contribution he is making all over the pitch for the team has been incredible. He really has it al, he gives us the champagne moments and the hard work, he drives us forward and he digs us out of holes.

While Son has been sensational and has a great goal record and respectable number of assists, he’s not been the talisman that Kane has been and not been quite as consistent either (though still pretty consistently good). Then there’s Højbjerg, who hands down is the signing of the season so far, and Ndombele who has been electrifying in moments and is really beginning to run things, but neither have given us quite what Kane has.

If we’re giving out half term grades:

A+ Kane
A Son
A- Højbjerg
B+ Ndombele Reguilón Lloris
B Dier Alderweireid Sissoko Aurier
B- Bergwijn Davies Vinicius
C Rodon Hart
C- Sanchez Winks Lo Celso
D+ Bale Lucas Lamela Doherty
D Dele
N/A Tanganga Gazzaniga

1. Kane: Has to be as others have already pointed out. His G/A is insane and I think we take him for granted.

2. Højbjerg: Think he has surprised us all thus far, also me. He has been outstanding now half way through. What a buy and exactly what we needed.

3. Son: Has been very good as well, his G/A ratio is impressive and have matured as a player a lot. Still think like Kane (but more) he goes missing to often in games, and that's why he's no further up.

4. Lloris: Credit where due. I have been tough on him before, but he has been very good this season. He needs confidence and stability as a keeper, and I think he has got it this season so far. His kicking is still garbage, but the personal errors is hidden thus far.

5.: Ndombele: Another player we have got here. He's only 5 because he was played as a #10 to often, which he is not & only lasting 60 minutes. It seems like in recent games he's doing better and better. Will be good to see where he's at when the season ends, he could be very important for us.

Especially as a Dane, I love what Højbjerg has brought to the team but there's no doubt the award should go to Kane. Højbjerg has made an incredible difference to the team, but his inclusion in PL TOTS is not even a shoe-in. Kane by current form is/should be a Ballon d'Or contender.

Kane and Son have both been world class, with Kane's assists and passing ability making him my choice. Hojbjerg best signing. Aurier most improved player.

Harry Kane. The stats speak for themselves, especially in a team that spends so long without the ball or camped in our own half.

Honourable mentions for Sonny, PEH and Ndombele. Sonny's form has been a little patchy but generally very good. PEH has stabilized midfield which was an issue for 2 years previously and the lack of goals against in open play bears that out. Ndombele just makes stuff happen and at long last Mourinho is giving him his chance. Just need GLC fit and firing now because anything like last season, he'd be in there as well.

I'd certainly say Kane, I think his start to the season was ridiculous, he's had more difficult games recently but is still coming up with the goods.

Kane has been exceptional, but Hojbjerg has been absolutely key.

He doesn't have the opportunity to have goals/assists underlining the fact - he's the most important cog in the watch, hidden behind the face.

I went for PEH because he has knitted the team together perfectly. Should probably be Kane really but I don't think the effect having PEH has had on the whole team can be overstated.

Kane hands down.

He's carrying us with his goals and assists.

Kane hands down, instrumental in scoring and assisting for us this season. He is our De Bruyne.

I would say Hojbjerg is the signing of the season for us and a close 2nd for player of the season for us.

For me it's clearly Kane, and I would argue that (certainly going off his stats) he's been one of the top 3 players in the world thus far.

The fact he's never won our player of the year is an absolute joke and he suffers because he's so good and so consistent that we still don't appreciate him. He should have won it pretty much every year since he broke through.

Son and Hojbjerg have, of course, been great but Kane is by far and away our best player, both on form and in general.

Apologies if this has already been addressed but he won it in 2015 according to this:

I thought Wanyama won it one year and he’s not on that list so maybe I’ve got the wrong list?

Agree in general though, it’s a bit scandalous that he hasn’t won it since, especially when he scored more than Messi (can’t remember the year). But with that said, our winners in the last few years have been Toby, Jan, Eriksen and Son twice. In the main they have been massively deserved. Kane does get overlooked though because we just expect him to be brilliant, which is unfair on him. Son’s an explosive player so he usually gets the attention that Kane used to get when he broke in the team. Now he’s finally being recognised as the amazing all rounder that he is and he should be a shoe in for POTY this year.

In order of excellence, I’d place our best players like this:

Top man: Kane
Right up there: Son, PEH, Ndombele, Lloris
Just behind: Dier, Reguilon, Aurier, Alderweireld

To be fair, there are a whole bundle of players who could be in the ‘just behind’ list or just behind the ‘just behind’ list (and 2 or 3 in the ‘must do better’ list).

It did occur to me that I might be guilty of giving Aurier slightly too much praise because of his improvement and how much of a liability he was, which is pretty much the same as not giving Kane enough praise because his expectancy level is through the roof. So there is that....

Just for your information for those who think that Kane should walk it. I have just gone back and checked all the MOTM ratings threads you all voted for in the last 29 games in all competitions. You only voted Kane MOTM 4 times.

Following up

Kane (4) vs Soton, West Ham, Burnley and Macca Haifa
Reguilon (1) vs Fulham
Sissoko (1) vs Brentford
Dele (1) vs Marine
Hojbjerg (9) vs Leeds, Palace, Leicester, Arsenal, Chelsea, Brighton, Newcastle, West Brom and Man Utd
Ndombele (6) vs Wolves, Sheffield, LASK, Ludogorets, Shkendija and Lokomotiv
Aurier (2) vs Antwerp, Liverpool
Lo Celso (2) vs Antwerp, Ludogorets
Winks (1) vs Stoke
Vinicious (1) vs LASK
Lamela (1) vs Chelsea

Noticable absentees - Lloris Dier and Son who have not had any MOTM performances to date as voted by yourselves

* I didnt do any ratings vs Everton first game of the season.

Interesting stats.

I think others have nailed it in that we have much higher expectations for Kane as we all know how good he is. I'm not sure if underappreciated is the right word because I feel he is universally loved amongst us. It is a travesty that he hasn't won our POTY before but I'm sure he knows how well appreciated he is by us as 'one of our own' and legitimately world class.

I think with Hojbjerg he has been a much needed tonic to our CM issues so has a lower bar to impress. He's also one of those warrior types that fans love.

Also I think there can be discrepancies between how a player is rated when you are looking at 90 mins compared to half a season. Despite seeing this I still think Kane is clear as his output has been truly world class. For me when you take a step back and look at a succession of games you think more of the overall quality of each player and the consistency of their output. Hojbjerg has been key and has been consistent, but his job is much easier to do consistently than what Kane and Son have been doing this season. They have been absolute world class and walk into any team around right now.

The top 3 picks itself for me:

1. Kane
2. Son
3. Hojbjerg

Notable mention to Ndombele who has shown real quality at times but is still finding his feet. Lloris and Aurier have been playing at a high level too but have also made costly errors.

There's also the thing where strikers are seen to get all the glory anyway, and people like to credit the unsung heroes. My best ever season in youth football I scored 40 odd goals in about 18 league games and my mate won the player's POTY award and even he'd admit he was the youth football equivalent of Steffen Freund that season.

A better judge would be the average ratings of the players though. I bet Kane when not MOTM have been higher than most, a lot of 6-7-8's.
