Berbatov and Keane playing together is a terrible pairing.

I can understand their selection, they are both very good, if sometimes frustrating, players but they do not work as a pairing.
Their inability to provide balance makes our midfield appear to be poor. There is no movement, no running the channels, no-one on the shoulder of the last defender and no-one doing the basics such as hassling the opposition defenders.

Last night whenever a midfielder looked up the pair of them were stood on the D with their thumbs up their arses.
In our 'poor' first half the ball went into their feet, was crossed into the box, and played through on many occasions yet they created/got on the end of nothing.

When Bent came on he offered a much more simpler but far more effective style of play which gave us the much needed balance up front.
Ramos now faces the same decision as Jol, our two best/most popular forwards don't work together, which one does he drop?

thats the 1st time i've heard or read that anywhere, in the whole world! Ever.

You have absolutley no idea do you. Get off this topic and go and watch re runs of Huddlestones best games for us. Against Derby this season, Against Man Utd this season, The Uefa cup last season, The peace cup the season before and the list goes on. He is BRILLIANT and you need to either go and talk shi* in another topic or put some glasses on...

I never thought I'd say this - but I watched the DVD of highlights of last season - and I must say when Keano got injured and Defoe stepped in, him and Defoe looked pretty tasty! :eek:mg:

The Bolton game obviously is the pinacle of Berbatov and Keane awesomeness, and as the season wore on they got better. But Berbatov and Bent or Keane and Bent I reckon would be better - just because of Bent's higher line.

The partnership is by no means terrible - and when one plays right on the defenders pushed up, they are awesome - but more often than not we're left with nowt in the middle. The number of times we crossed the ball in for one man vs. 4 defenders was silly.

I'd like to see Keane get pushed up onto the shoulder of the last defender, and Berbs drop off. I get the feeling that Berbs doesn't want to drop off so much though. I don't think there's any particular problem with their movement. They just need to click again.

Back on topic, I still think Hudd is our most talented CM. I just hope Ramos can fit him into his tactical system.

Who the heck are you. I wasnt even talking to you so shut it...:shake:

If you had read my post properly you would have seen that I mentioned UEFA as well and said the list goes on. This also means the league games he played in and the other cup games he played in. The Peace cup was a great example of what he could do and I must say we did play against Lyon in the final and beat them convincingly because of HUdd... If you had any idea you wouldnt have even bothered replying..

No - he's more than entitled to voice his opinion, the same as you have.

And for the record, the Peace Cup was a two-bob pre-season tournament.

good man mangement of Huddlestone by Ramos. Hudd looked more like the player he was in the middle of last season.

The pass for the goal was good but it was the calmness he showed on the ball, deep in our half that impressed me most about his performance last night. The moment he got possession of the ball around our left back area, crowded by 3 of thier players he manovered his way out and pinged a 70 yard ball over to Bent on the opposite wing.

Huddlestone clearly has loads of talent. However, his best matches have all been against continental teams and bottom feeders in the Premiership. He's clearly much better than Championship quality, but I have to wonder whether he will ever be a real top quality Prem player, or whether he would much better served going to play in Europe (La Liga?) Unfortunately, everything I have seen points to the latter.

That's not to say we should sell him, though.

'Terrible' may seem too strong a word but I think it does apply to them as a partnership.

It's not a question of doubting their abilities, they are both very good individuals and two good individuals will still score/set up plenty of goals but I think the sum of these two is less than the individual parts and it shows.

Partnerships work best when players have complementary abilities and Berbatov and Keane don't. They both want to play in the same areas and be the main man.

For me we should play either Keane or Berbatov with Bent or Defoe with my preference being Berbatov/Bent.

I don't like the way you have completely drifted off topic. This is a Huddlestone thread. FFS stoof what are you thinking ?

I dont see how anyone can say it was to this person or to that person. Both Berbatov and Bent were on the last men looking to run onto a ball if played through. Hudd saw the sapce and plaeyed it in to look for someone to run onto it. It just so happened to be Berbatov.

There's a difference between starting a new topic and following the natural thread of conversation within a topic.
