Don’t want this fat little ****. Looks like he’d get distracted by Dominos on the way to training. Tubby little doughboy.

Silky player but we'd need more work rate and at least a stone to come off him. Nice player though remimded me of riquelme

Pretty sure his performances for his club do not match how he's been playing in the World Cup. Didn't make it at Porto, having been loaned out 3 times, including to Rennes, where he only played 12 times in the league (not due to injury it seems). So he's never done well in a top European league. He even had to return to the Colombian league on loan at one point.

No thanks.

Agree.

Uh-huh ... but you only quoted me and a post that tagged me :meh:.
Only you? Check again dude. Unless yanno is either on your ignore list or purely in my imagination he is definitely tagged.

Either way this argument is pointless and childish. You like him because he was good at a tournament from about a half decade ago and I don’t want him because I want players that look good at men’s level now.

This thread is the worst of this forum and sadly typical of how it can be. People with knowledge and insight ignored as posters continue to make the same points everyone has based on very little knowledge.

Good job these people display greater critical powers when they’re at the voting booth...

.....

Thank you @fatpiranha and @yanna for your insight and patience.

Yep .. most completed passes in the opponents half of anybody on the pitch in normal time and most goal attempts. Far from his best match but ... "gash"?

I posted that at 7pm, he did improve I will give you that much.

Ah, so you've seen him play for his club then?

Don't need to see him play to know. Been at Porto for 5 years and hasn't even played 70 games for them, been loaned out three times one of which was to a team in Colombia. What does that suggest to you then fella?
Enough of your uneccesary sarcasm.

Ossie85 said his good Cup form is off the back of good form this season at River Plate, but that he lacks stamina. So his form hasn't come from nowhere, but his persistent failure in the years before he went back to Colombia and then Argentina are the concern. Just injuries or more than that? I am not sure we know the answer to that?

If you are going to make a statement like

One of those players who plays well for his country but not his club

At least do it having watched him personally play for his club. VDV struggled for game time at Madrid, James Rodriguez was loaned out for two years by Madrid. Loads of players don't make it at certain clubs for any number of reasons. Kane was loaned to Norwich and didn't get any game time, same at Leicester.

I'm not saying we should sign him but if you haven't seen a player play for a club how can you make that kind of statement?

Don’t think he has the mentality or physicality to succeed here, having watched a limited but fair amount and read up on his issues. There are plenty of reasonably skillful players filling up teams at lower levels who fell short in other areas. I don’t believe he was the better player between him and James at a young age, as James is obviously quite substantially better even in the areas where Quintero excels. The same got trotted out about Quaresma when Ronaldo broke through. It starts with people realising there’s a good player they hadn’t been aware of, then a bit of a belated hype train comes through, which starts with ‘he was also good’ and ends up ‘he was the better player.’

Exactly my point, thanks. Referring to the post by @LeParisien above as well.

Yes James Rodriguez was loaned out, but not back to a league know one really watches bar those from South America.

to be fair to Kane at Norwich, didn't he have a nasty injury on the opening day of the season, which kept him out for most of it.

I enjoyed a couple of his games, but I still believe players will always give that extra for there country. we don't need to take risks on players that will be used as back ups especially if they have a past injury history

Exactly why you can't write a player off solely based on the fact he didn't make it with one club. The OP even said he hadn't ever seen him other than his performances from Columbia. If someone like the above posters have actually watched him during his club career they have a more informed opinion of his career than someone who hasn't.
