Rio is an overated donkey, Rio is not fit to lace a fully fit king's boots!!

Completely disagree, Rio is rightly rated by many football fans as he is a very good ball playing CB. In my opinion however King is the better CB as he does not get caught ball watching which is something which Rio has always done

King Vs Rio/whoever is an almost pointless debate sadly. Ledley is 30yo and the last three years should've seen him at his peak, unfortunately injuries have limited what we saw of him. I can only dream of the player we might have had.

Whether or not King is our future, he has been an incredible representative (we'll forgive the faces night) for this club and us as supporters. With better knees, one of Rio and Terry wouldn't have had the career they have. And he was so important in the building of this team to what it is today. So while most of us don't see him carrying us forward, we sure as fuck want to see him carry us out one more time. He deserves his testimonial and some accolades. Not an ignominious end to his career.

THAT faces night is such a bad misrepresentation of Ledley King.

He never used to drink, when he did, he couldn't handle it and looked paraletic every time.

I remember him slumped over a sofa in Faces with a fag in his hand when we signed Dawson and Reid. The whole squad were out and Brown and Keane were absolutely running riot, again in Faces, but King was was just King, lightweight.

Yes he was hammered, but he was also being helped out by his mate John (a gooner), who happened to be on crutches and fell over causing the carnage like photos.

He was unfortunate to be snapped, but I have got photos of Spurs players on days that we have been beat in the league, drinking champagne and dancing on tables. There were and still are a lot worse culprits than Ledders.

That's not really true about Rio though. It's just something that gets conveniently trotted out when discussing him that's said so often that people believe it. Rio may have been guilty of ball watching earlier in his career but he barely ever does it now.

Pointless him carrying on, even if this news is false it is a matter of time before it is real, put him forward for coaching badges and retire him as a player

I think Rio, on his day, was an excellent centre back. Whether he was/is better than Ledley is open for debate.

John Terry on the other hand... The King wazzes all over him. Terry isn't fit to lace Ledley's boots, and I think most people would agree with that? (on here at least).

I'm gutted for Ledley, he could have had quite the career and been rated as up there with the best of all time. His timing of tackles, his pace, his composure on the ball, positionally astute, good in the air, he had the lot. Just a shame he's got no knees to hold it all up.

But now with the 25 man squad thing coming into play I don't think we can afford to carry passengers. And to be carrying two, with King and Woodgate, could be hindering our prospects.

Just for the record, I think Rio Ferdinand is better than King. Marginally, but better.

Nah. seen rio raped lots. he's brillaint but Rio can't do what ledley did at his best. both feet and the ability to be the best player on the picth in any senario, game after game.

Drogba at his best was is the hardest 1 to 1 battle in recent history and King has owned him several times even when they met during the highest of highs of drogba's form.

I have no doubt that what ronaldo did to Rio in the CL he would not have been able to do to King. Rio has had a better body a loder personality and player for a stronger side. Other than than He's got no skillset better than King, some are equal and many are lower.

Just for the record, i think King is the most talelted CB to play in England let alone for spurs. he'd be in my best ever world 11 alongside baresi and flanked by Maldini and cafu.

Much as I detest the guy Judas at his peak was the best centre back I have ever seen, sadly on another level to King and Ferdinand, had Ledley stayed fit maybe that might have changed but on the other hand if Ledley had had a healthy career I think the reality is he would have been wearing a Utd, Chelsea or Real shirt years ago

Don't think so. You cannot say he was on another level. Maybe the same level, but not one up.

Possibly Real, but I just couldn't see him leaving Spurs for another English club.

Not sure if I agree with the judas comment either. Taking the Spurs-tinted glasses off for a moment, he was clearly an outstanding player, but King is the better player as far as I'm concerned. Regardless of the position, he's one of the very best players we've ever had.

Correct me if i'm wrong but didn't King, Rio, Judas and Terry all start out as midfielders?
