I’m sure there’s a free midweek after the World Cup these fixtures can be played in. Even extend the season 1 week

This season was already stretched.

Always find it a bit strange why the space is so large between passing and the funeral in England/Wales etc
In Northern Ireland it's a few days later normally. Just feels more in keeping with the emotion feeling that bit more raw.
In most cultures that I'm aware of the burial is usually carried out within a few days or at the most, the week. I always thought the waiting longer was a result of colder climates where there's less risk to the body so interesting to hear about N.Ireland custom.

On another note, does anyone think it's better we play Haaland FC now or later?

I think people are underestimating the incredibly deep respect the Queen commanded across Europe and further afield. Should the United Kingdom request that the European games are postponed, it's unthinkable that UEFA would refuse to do so. The logistics will have to be figured out later; there's no international tournament next summer so in a worst-case scenario the season could potentially be extended. I fully expect there'll be no club fixtures featuring PL teams for the rest of this month, with the league returning for the North London Derby on the 1st of October.
So hope not, really want the Lisbon and Leicester games to happen

Same in Ireland, generally a burial within 2 days if no foul play (or suspected)
Main reason is outside the main cities of Ireland in rural areas like mine there are no morgues to store DB’s

Just cancel the international break!

I would absolutely love this but just cant see it - these are nations leagues games - so just play them after the season. I dont think it will happen simply because the managers will use these as a way to cement the squad for the world cup etc.

Apparently it's in the hands of the league. But the EFL is off, the golf and the cricket are off, so it's hard to see politically how the PL can go on

I guess the big silver lining for us is that we get more time on the training pitch with Conte.

Well maybe some sort of dispensation comes into play here.

The Golf and Cricket are completely different animals with completely different sporting calendars with no world cups to work around mid season.

Cancel the city game, they should also cancel all home European games. The teams who can't play should suffer an automatic loss ?

Currently it’s only tomorrows EFL game which is off, only a matter of time I imagine before it’s all off

Sincerely hope the matches this weekend and next go ahead especially as I'm due to go over next Saturday for my first match in four years. Hotel and flights booked

I hope for your sake they aren't cancelled. I think its highly unlikely.

I have tickets, hotels and activities on Sunday booked for the Leicester game as well. I can’t for the life of me understand why it shouldn’t go ahead

We want the games to be played right?
Manu and arsenal, perhaps do not always give the best examples to follow, but have already continued their fixtures.

It is not disrespectful - other people still have to go to work.
People genuinely still shell shocked by this do not have to watch the games and can sit over a park or something.
Newspapers do not have to report the games if they find it offensive.
Politicians do not have to score cheap points.

I'm sure the games will be played with all due deference to the situation, with black armbands and flags at half mast.

I'm fine with it.

I imagine next weekend's schedule is subject to funeral arrangements, and any other funeral-related scheduling quirks.
