Every part of the season is key but undoubtedly there is much more pressure at the end of a season with teams knowing what’s on the line. For example if we need just a draw against city to secure top 4 but city need a win to win the league, that would be a difficult situation for us.

But really, for me, it’s more to do with the congestion. Looks like the Leicester game will be postponed which means 2 league games to make up god knows when so it just seems we’re moving one congested period to another later down the line. I also feel now is a better time to play City

You're right though, there’s obvious short term benefits to us having a rest this weekend. Hopefully it works out in the long run.
Time will tell, we have different views but that's fine ?

We could still be in the same situation when the game gets rescheduled tho.
In a national state of mourning? Could be. Could be.
Wasn't it ultimately the decision of the FA/Premier League to postpone these games? If you want to be angry at anyone, it's them.
And they would in turn take direction from Truss.
I don't think any football fan is angry at this point as long as sensible decisions are made about the rescheduling.
Just those with strong political views are frothing at the mouth even though they have got their way.

Honestly I think postponing the games this weekend is utterly ridiculous. It’s not that I’m a raving anti monarchist - my personal view is the monarchy is an absurd construct if you were starting from scratch but given we have one it is probably better then any alternative people would agree on - but how is playing or not playing a game of football 48-72 hours after someone died and a week before their funeral anything to do with respect?

For me, the matches should all be played .

How is football for 2 weeks indecent and disrespectful, but football in 3 weeks is fine and dandy ?

and who decided this ?

If anything, letting the games continue and doing some form of tribute/moment of silence before each game to pay respects would of been much better and make more sense than postponing. Not sure if the Queen herself would've agreed to this.

Some peoples disrespect is appalling.
The Queen has been on the throne longer than the majority of us have been alive.
It is a monumental aspect of all our lives in the UK, so very sad for many, let them grieve in their own way.
A passing of a Monarch that will never be surpassed.
A few games get cancelled, not a big deal. (Do feel for those that have paid out large sums to see the match tho)
No doubt I will get many RED X''s.
I am not a royalist but she was special.
Take care one and all.
Spot on. I’m amazed at the number of people who don’t appreciate or understand the magnitude of this event.
Her death is the end of era. When she was born The British Empire was still in its pomp. As Head of State she presided over the peaceful dismantling of that .Empire and she did this with great understanding and dignity. She was in many ways our last link to those days and to the wartime generation which as Churchill said was our “finest hour”.
She wasn’t some political hack who happened to be PM for a few years. She was our Head of State for nearly three quarters of a century who presided over us moving from those Empire days to what we are now, basically a group of islands off the coast of Continental Europe. Through all that she embodied, to many people both here and abroad, everything that was great about our country.
If you feel her death doesn’t deserve missing a football match I feel sorry for you.

If your mother died on Thursday afternoon would you be going to a football match on the Saturday?
Spot on, mate.
I was late to this thread and have skipped the first dozen or so pages.
But much of what I have read has, in my naivety, saddened and surprised me. I have found some of the comments from fellow Spurs fans shocking, to be honest.
Tasteless, ignorant and spiteful.
Shameful.

Finding the strength of opinion people have on this (both ways) quite interesting.

If postponing football matches is a good way to show respect to a monumental public figure and a phenomenal servant to this country, then I’m all for it. I’m not convinced (at all) that it is a good way of doing that, and I haven’t really seen anyone even attempt to prove a logical justification for it either (from the perspective of respect - policing is a practical issue). Particularly when practically everything else continues as normal. On the day of the state funeral I agree completely - there shouldn’t be matches.

Re the rescheduling of matches, I’m sure they’ll come up with something so that doesn’t concern me.

You're not seriously comparing it to individuals own mothers dying...

Fucking hell.

Everyone handles death in their own way. We've seen players like Aurier and Defoe play after losing loved ones. I think for me personally I probably would still go 2 days later. Obviously not on the day of a funeral but I would want to have time to do something other than think about it. This one is difficult because it's a death that impacts the nation. Personally I don't see the point of cancelling the matches. If the funeral is on a weekend then I can understand but seems a bit unnecessary to me. I just don't really see what is achieved by not playing. I mean I don't know what we're expected to do instead. Are we meant to just sit at home and think about the Queen between 17:30-19:00 time?

Agree, plus if Charles dies this year you have to postpone games again, difficult with World cup and potential new covid wave in winter. But I understand it, this winter World Cup is simply a giant mistake.
