You do understand that they are playing in that same ‘rigid’ system, when they play positively, right? The difference is they are starting games passively. Very low intensity. So, if the system was too rigid, how is it they are able to ratchet up the intensity within that system, when they make a mental shift. The system can’t be both the blame for poor starts and be ignored when we play well. Yes, it is a strange conundrum, as you said yourself, it has been a long term issue. Regardless of whatever system they’ve been playing.
Also, are you saying that the system isn't rigid given your use of "rigid" in your post?

Will be a tough game as always made tougher by our injuries.

Hopefully the crowd will keep being positive even if the score or performance isn't.

Perhaps the players will finally follow Conte's instructions, as seems to be the prevailing belief, and be more attacking from the off.

Not expecting much but we shall see.

You watching on catch up mate?

Does anyone know how many points were needed for this? Seen a few videos and there’s a fair few empty seats.

Have you got nothing better to do mate?
To be fair and considering how great your life is, I'm surprised that you haven't got anything better to do!

(Sorry but I can't seem to let your earlier bragadocious post go ?)

I don't know about the rest of you but if I was manager and knew my team was in the Europa if the scores stayed the same, would be out entirely if we concede but got through to the CL last 16 with one goal - I'm sending my keeper to join the attack if we get a set piece in stoppage time.
I would do that if I was Tottenham manager. With our squad we're capable of making serious inroads in the CL. But Marseille? Let's face it, they're never ever going to win the tournament, they just aren't anywhere near good enough. But they are a club with the potential to go all the way in the Europa. The 3rd spot is much more valuable to them

Logic would certainly suggest that is indeed the case. A manager as astute as conte surely cannot be sending his team out to play that we have been playing.

It is difficult though to understand why it isn't working or maybewhy if the players aren't suitable that he doesn't adjust his tactics to suit them?

The fact that we are able to produce 2nd half performances shows that the players are capable.

Hopefully we will see some progress.
Maybe we are all over thinking it. 1st half , contain which most teams do it to us at WHL and 2nd , exploit other teams weakness. When Perišić (absolute brilliant) stopped the goal bound shot behind Davis, he celebrated as though he had scored. He gets it whereas some players look overwhelmed by the idea to defend (as an art) at that same level,.

Another very, very frustrating first half and another very satisfying result. I do think that all this stuff about deliberate negative football is a bit of a weird thing now, we've instances of both the players and Conte (and coaches) saying it isn't what they set out to do so anyone suggesting it's how we want to play isn't paying attention or is so invested in the complaining that they just don't care to.

We all want to enjoy it, we all want to see us play attractive football, of course we do, people aren't wrong to want that and on some levels, we all agree don't we? Yes it's poor, yes, you're right, it's frustrating but there's still aspects and positives to take so believe it or not, it isn't all bad. It really isn't.

Last night was frustrating for sure, but the second half was excellent and if that didn't excite you, then what on earth are yoouru doing? We played much more like it, we showed character and got the result. Enjoy the moment, don't suck the life out of it. Instead, take some measure of enjoyment out of it, take the positives. Just for a change :D
Our football has all the eliments of a Shakespearean play.

Son /Romero are rested and we played Tues-we should be up for this. Liver cant defend at the moment. Napoli were unlucky not to beat Liverpool .thier PL form is as poor as ours.

Son and Romero both out I'm afraid
Sky Sports
"Following surgery, Son will commence rehabilitation with our medical staff and we shall update supporters further in due course."

It’s a minor fracture. He could play with a mask or couldn’t we stick a crash helmet ⛑ on him.

It wasn't intended to be bragadocious (fantastic word by the way) but fair enough, on reflection it was rather crass!

Apologies to all.

My life is pretty great though;)

Another positive is that absolutely anyone seems to be able to pop up with an important goal this season. Since Kane's consolation against Newcastle our last 6 goalscorers are Bentancur, Sessegnon, Davies, Bentancur, Lenglet and Hojbjerg. None of them recognised goalscorers.

No one can accuse us of solely relying on Kane and Son
Good points well made, but unfortunately your last sentence is not correct thanks to there being many biased members on the Spammers Kumb Forum who form that exact view, and they haven't and won't change their bitter misguided opinion despite some fine and sublime performances from others in our team.
