Coyle over Moyes all day for me. I will always support spurs but if we have to put up with a manager who plays boring defensive football it won't be as fun.

some people are fucking stupid

MOURINHO IS NOT REALISTIC
NOR IS GUARDIOLA

i didnt start this thread to ask people who they want in an ideal world, i said realistically

oh yeah, id take either of these any day of the week, id take alf ramsay if he was still alive too.

Coyle would be great, he actually sounds like he has brains when he talks, he's done wonders at bolton and burnley, hes young and will only get better.

Plenty of people said that VDV was not the sort of player who would come to us.

Plenty of people said we would not get passed the group statges of the CL.

Nothing is impossible in football.

Nothing is impossible in football.

With that optimism, do you still think we're winning the league?

Why wouldn't Mourinho come to us ?

We have money, he loves London, we are at the upper end of the league, we have shown we can compete in the CL

Where else would he go ?

Utd - Fergie will be there for a few years yet he is still in good health
Scum - Wenger will be there a long time yet
Chelsea - Would he trust Abramovich again after last time ?
City - They are a freakshow in reality
Liverpool - Dalglish has worked wonders so he will stay

YOU may think Mourinho is unrealistic.
But there is no need to swear, or to accuse folk of being stupid.
I can assure you I am neither 'stupid', nor, at my age, and the length of time I have been watching football, simplistic in footballing matters.
I, amongst others, have produced a lengthy and well-reasoned argument as to why we 'might' have an outside chance of attracting Mourinho (I never, anywhere, suggested we were nailed on to get him, and I have a pretty good understanding of the way betting-odds and chance work - nor did I mention Guardiola, as I don't think we have much chance of getting him at all). On these grounds, I actually think it makes you look a bit stupid to not answer reasoned argument with reasoned argument, but, instead to make an unsubstantiated assertion, accompanied by vitriolic abuse.

Think you need to retire and have a period of contemplation before being so needlessly abuse.

Ahhh, it's refreshing to be accused of mis-placed positivity for once!

 I, for one, appreciate the irony of it:grin:

haha, yeah anything is possible i know what you mean, no one would have said we'd be in the quarters against madrid. it is still possible he stays, i'd much rather have that!

Actually, we had a prediction thread at the start of the season and I predicted that we would reach the quarter-final of the CL:wink:

I want a manager of around 50 or younger who is looking to stay with us for 10 years +. I wish Redknapp was younger as it's a sham to get a manager who works so well with the squad but is pushing 70.

Coyle fits this, someone will take a chance on him and if its not us and it works out that he's the new Fergie I'll be a bit sad we didn't try.

Red Nose is 70 this year. Harry joined us when he was 61. Its not inconceivable that we could get a decade out of him if he didn't take the England job.

In my dreams, Dirk or Jose.

There are no British managers I'd try, I would promote Clive Allan to the job if I had to take a gamble.

Just for the record, I wasn't saying I want Mourinho, just making an argument as to why it might be plausible...if Redknapp leaves within the foreseeable.
I really don't know, myself...my policy on this one is wait and see what the situation is if/when he leaves. We don't actually know who will be available, nor do we know what our situation will be (for allwe know, our stadium development could be in full swing, and we could still have all our best players with 2 or 3 WC players added, in which case we would be a massively attractive proposition, most managers).

I can appreciate that.
The only problem is that there have been lots of new Red Nose's (sic.), but mostly they are really just hitting a purple patch, and then fade drastically (I strongly suspect that this is what we thought we were getting with Wandery Ramos:eek:mg:).

because he could work for anybody. Only a fool would think he would turn down Utd, Chelsea, Arsenal or Liverpool for us. Plus the pick of foreign clubs

Good God, another one.
As seen as we are not too far behind United, Chelsea and Arsenal, and better than Liverpool, with an average age of squad (and therefore scope and hope for improvement), I fail to see why you draw such a distinction between us and them.
Besides, as explained, above (perhaps if you took time to actually read other peoples arguments I wouldn't need to tell you this), there is actually a bit of a pattern to the teams Mourinho opts to manage - and believe it or not, we match it. It could be argued that the ArseScum do, too, as well as Liverpool. But, we are not talking about them, are we, and there are good reasons why he isn't likely to manage either of them any time soon.
So, with reference to this post, and others, would you loke to explain why I am a fool to find some credence in the possibility of Mourinho accepting the Spurs job if offered. Please note, I am not saying it is anything other than an outside chance, nor that I want it to happen...but there again, I don't need to do either of these things in order to avoid looking foolish, whereas you have to demonstrate absolute certainty in order to avoid that charge.

^ I think its amusing that dispite 2 seasons of dire crap from Liverpool they are still considered a more preferrable option in the eyes of fandom.

He has already said his next job will be in England

There will be no vacancy at Utd, Scum or Liverpool, he fell out with Abramovich before so it is between us and City realistically

They can offer more money and bigger wages but we can offer him a good wage, decent transfer budget, a young squad that will only get better and the best city in the world.

He would have a better relationship with Levy than he would Gary Cock and the Sheikh
