I thought I would... drop by to see what condition my condition was in. ;)

So here we are. But my mind cannot help drifting back to a sunny Sunday 7 May 2006 at Quinn's in Kentish Town. A good turn out from SCers, I seem to remember Stoof, TalkShowHost and a few others being there. It's the last day of the season, and this pub has *somehow* got a special card in its digital box that means it is showing West Ham v Tottenham live on TV. Deep inside in the back room, another TV has the Goons v Wigan. All we have to do is match the Goons result and we will have our first season in the Champions League, courtesy of Big Martin Jol. You know the rest.

But today is different. Today we have a World Cup winner in goal, a defence that has only conceded two goals in five games, the current PL Golden Boot holder and this season's winner-in waiting. A team that has lost only one game in the last ten and has been guided by a natural born winner.

The keywords today are patience, resilience and determination. The opportunity to write new history, to once again book a seat back where we belong at the top table. We will not care about what others do, because today all that matters is what we do ourselves.

Our time, our chance, our destiny.

COME ON YOU SPURS!

Or if we lose and finish fifth he'll be back at Heathrow later today flying out to join a club from abroad.

Counting each hour very nervously. Hope the club are being extremely careful about what the players are eating
I know 2006 wasn't to do with food poisoning, but doesn't mean it couldn't happen in 2022
These games are so tense because postponement is difficult, perhaps impossible
I would have had players eating food cooked at Hotspur Way, but I am a fully paid up member of the Royal Society of Neurotics and Anxiety Corner

You don't say!

I'd think - hope - that the club are doing everything to ensure this feels like any other away trip. The players will have some tension and anxiety anyway, they don't need the club getting all neurotic about every forkful of food they're putting in their mouth.

I’ve been up since 5.38 this morning and I’ve just completed my fourth dump of the day (two of them have been triple flush sessions). That means I could be emptying my bowels every 40 minutes between now and kick off. This is Christian Bale The Machinist territory. God help me

Swear this week has dragged since full time v Burnley. But here we are at last. Final game of the season. We did what we needed to do v Arsenal and Burnley. Let's finish it off and not only do what is required, but win and win well.

Let's have it. Still as calm and confident as I have been all week.

COYS!

Gonna win it 7-1

A bit like the Hull game a while back. Will be a fun party atmosphere and get the first goal and floodgates opening. Son wil get his golden boot. We will get CL.

I thought that the Evening Standard was only printed and sold Monday to Fridays

We had the Evening Standard and also the Evening News, both printed in Fleet Street where all the papers came from in Londkn and the South East.
They would have a back page with what was called the ‘stop press’ column along the bottom rows to which the scores would be out in.
These were sent by trains and vans to all the newsstands and shops. In other places like Manchester you had similar - The Manchester Evening Pink .
As a travelling supporter it was rare that you could stop and buy a copy as you would be corralled/kettled and herded by the police for most journeys back to coaches/trains
You could leave Old Trafford and by the time you arrived at Manchester Piccadilly station the paper would be there so you could see the other results of the day.
Quaint times

Not sure why the fuck I’m awake at 6:30 on Sunday but can’t wait for this one.

BBQ, few beers, two tvs outside one for each game bring it on.

Raining here in Ireland- normal probably hit by kick off though

I'm the total opposite. Been nervous all week, but woke up this morning feeling confident, knowing we have Conte in charge. Although I'm sure in the next few hours I will be bricking it again ?
