Well no. AVB had sold Dawson to QPR but he didn't want to go. With Kaboul out we needed experience so he came back in.

Of course at this stage Dawson is the more experienced player he's pushing 30, but Kaboul will be back, Jan has had a full season and Id prefer Dawson not to be ahead of Caulker for the next spot.

You may well rate Dawson, but I think for every heroic block he makes, its usually his poor positioning that causes it. He's also crap with his distribution.

If nobody had an opinion on the manager's decisions we'd barely have a forum so think about your logic the next time you criticise the manager for something.

Dawson maybe "touching 30" but I'm willing to have a bet with you that he'll be at Spurs longer than Caulker. Kaboul is quality but I dont think the Club will just assume he's going to be fit all season after such a bad injury, it could take 6 months before we see the best of Kaboul. As for your last point, yes we can all bitch and moan about team selections ect ect, but when you look at the season as a whole, it's clear who the better player is, and you might not like it but its not Caulker.

Told ya!!

I was one of the very few who called Paulinho for what he is; an athlete, not a footballer.

I don't want an award but I must allow myself to chuckle at some of the hyperbole surrounding Paulinho this summer.

Special mention to @jair1970 who called this an epoch defining signing, the kind of signing that wins you titles etc.

Great stuff.

I said in the match thread and have said it for the past few weeks, he needs some time on the bench as he simply offers nothing at present, a simple 5 yard pass is beyond him (don't even get me started on the shooting). At the moment I cannot for the life of me understand why we spent 4 years trying to get rid of Jenas and then when we finally do we spend £17 million on his reincarnation?

I will bide my time with all of these new signings because it's my opinion they are being mismanaged at the moment.

I want to see them play under somebody different, the few glimpses of Eriksen suggest that.

You are allowed to be positive you know.
Special mention goes to @King of Otters for being all knowing.

Maybe you should manage us?

Some of you are wasted posting on here. In both senses. I do hope that those that 'called it' are standing tall and proud right now.

Key player for the team that will lift the world cup next summer,
at Spurs he's the next Jenas .. something is wrong here.

Funnily enough my mate said he's like a less mobile Jenas today. Needs to be taken out of team for a while.

Why not just be realistic? I'd love nothing more than to see us sign a superstar midfielder but Paulinho was never going to be that.
The guy starts for Brazil & had just been voted 3rd best player of the Daft Cup, it's a pretty decent CV.

How about: he's still settling, he'll come good.

That's pretty realistic.

What do people think he brings to the team?

An honest question, I'm genuinely wanting to know what others think. For me, initially I thought he was a neat and tidy engine in the middle of the pitch but as more games go by he doesn't appear to be as I tidy as first thought. I would say he gets in great positions, positions you'd want a goal scoring midfielder to get into but his shooting is incredibly erratic, his decision making isn't the greatest and he certainly doesn't add much from a defensive point of view and like said I think his decision making and poor shooting lets him down in an attacking sense. That's just IMO.

I think some of you are asking too much of him. It would be wonderful if he could move from Brazil to England and within 3 months take over a team that is playing crappy at just about every position, but players like that are exceptionally rare.

I have another one: like Vertonghen, Dembele, Holtby, Sigurdsson, Eriksen Lennon, Lamela and Soldado -
he's not played to his strenghts

His status in the brazil side suggests he's a top player but it does look as though he has issues with passing?! If we are using him incorrectly than what is his best position/formation? Genuine question.
