I don't disagree necessarily, but that midfield puts the onus on Capoue to be very disciplined.I have to agree but then its a tough one as Eriksen does pull stuff out of the bag
If you look at one of the poochies systems he used at Southampton he would use Ward-Prowse alot at CM instead of the box to box player.
I said before the start of the season I think Poochie will play Lamela at AM and move Eriksen to CM. However I think he may of found his Ward-Prowse in Mason.
Against teams that aren't going to try and overrun us in midfield I would go
All of sudden with Mason you have someone who links up the defence and Capoue(since they go sidewards and backwards) to the AM.
Soldado
Chadli ------ Eriksen ------- Lamela
Capoue ---- Mason
Then in Soldado you have someone linking up with AM and creating space for them to get in behind whereas Ade does drift alot.
I have to admit, with a player like Schneiderlin taking out people left right and centre, it does make the system much betterI don't disagree necessarily, but that midfield puts the onus on Capoue to be very disciplined.
Imagine thinking that Paulinho was better than him.
Right with you buddy. Shame it just took the 5 years to get there!
Always liked Mason, used to love watching him Townsend and Caulker in the youth team. I havent seen the game tonight but look forward to seeing some highlights
Just watch from the 65th(ish) minute onwards (i.e. when Mason and Kane come on).Always liked Mason, used to love watching him Townsend and Caulker in the youth team. I havent seen the game tonight but look forward to seeing some highlights
Haha it wasn't hindsight, Paulinho is a horrible footballer to watch. You could see from pre season that Mason was a better player. You weren't alone there. Hindsight, mate

He is horrendously injury prone though, if Mason can stay fit then it should be Capoue, Dembele, Stromboulj, Bentaleb and Mason as our CM options.
Agree with this.
After last night it is even clearer that -
Paulinho should never play for the first team again. I'm hoping he is one of the senior players that Poch is pointing a finger at when he says he will start dropping players if they do not perform; because for me he has failed spectacularly so far.
Bentaleb needs to look at Mason and learn from him; he has to look for the forward pass more and not do a 'Ray Wilkins' i.e. keep passing it sideways.
Kane has to play ahead of Ade, preferably in a partnership with Soldado.
All of us Mason fans can switch to 'smug mode' tonight .
I still think bench for Saturday and definitely get some good game time in the 2nd half. If he starts and we get brutalised it will knock his confidence very quickly
