Cudicini 7 One great save from Noble, and tidy elsewhere.

Hutton 6 Some good runs forward and one great through ball to Lennon (which he muffed) good covering as well

Corluka 6 Outjumped by Piqiuniniininin for the goal but looked solid enough...

Bassong 5.5 a bit too rash on several occasions but probably trying too hard...

Bale 6 Bale is not a great passer, and with most players looking for balls to feet today in front of the defence this was exposed, did OK defensively but looked off the pace when attacking.

Lennon 4 offered nothing really, couldn't even take on a make shift LB in gabbidon...

Jenas 6.5 was one of our best players today, always looking for the ball and moving, but at times not on the same wavelength with the more creative players (modric & VDV)

Modric 7 was at the heart of everything good, coming inside and linking up with VDV et al. and forced a top save from Green.

VDV 6.5 good early threat (when we finally got the ball) but he seemed to lose effectiveness as the game wore on. Not helped by the static Crouch and the unimaginative Lennon just standing there marking the defenders...

Hudd 5.5 Not great today (captain) moved the ball too predictably but the speed of movement from those around him was not there against a west ham content to sit and soak up pressure for long periods.

Crouch 4 about as ineffective game as i have seen him have, did not even offer his customary effort.

Keane 5 not much offered, ran about a bit. a 1-2 with Jenas

Pav 5 'won' a few early free kicks and had a couple of (poor) snap shots.

GDS 4.5 nothing to see here, move along.

'Arry, 5 looked like the best team on paper (with Possibly Lennon dropped) but everything was a bit pedestrian and unimaginative.

it now looks an inspired decision to rest the whole team against the Arse, now we can look back on 2 great london derby defeats...

This is exactly how I saw it, and I'm too lazy to post my own thoughts

Cudicini - 7 no chance on their goal

Hutton - 7.5 probably our best player for the second straight game, which isnt a good thing. Consistently cleaned up for the center backs, which also isnt a good thing.

Corluka - 7 really pretty solid.

Bassong 6.5 shaky at times.

Bale - 6.5 fine defending but unwilling to make a forward run.

VdV - 7.5 this guy oozes class with everything he does.

Modric - 7 unlucky not to score

Lennon - 6 more of the same. I wish he'd get out of his funk.

Hudd - 5 was awful today. should've scored.

Jenas - 6 he's makes Modric-like runs but they never end in a completed pass.

All Strikers including Gio - bad. We need 2 or 3 new strikers in the January window. Keep Defoe and maybe Crouch.

Cudicini 7 Kept us in the game for much of it.

Hutton 5.5 Pick of the bunch defensively.
Corluka 5 Did better than I expected him too. Poor for their goal.
Bassong 4.5 Looked absolutely desperate at times. Really off last seasons excellence.
Bale 3 At fault for their goal, because he wasn't on the post. Poor offensively, average defensively.

Lennon 3 Why has he stopped running at people?
Jenas 5Put in a good shift, nothing spectacular, just kept it simple.
Modric 7 - MOM How we have missed him, superb movement, superb interplay, superb effort. Just let down by those surrounding him unfortunately.
Hudd 3 Oh Tommy, Tommy, Tommy. Today you were fucking awful. Running on empty?

VDV 6 Did okay, but really looks sometimes like he is out for himself rather than the team. Missed a chance to put Modric clean through early on.

Crouch 3 Absolutely horrendous once again. He literally offers nothing other than height. I want to like him so fucking badly, but I can't when time after time after time he loses the fucking ball when it would have been simpler to keep hold of it.

SUBS 5 None of them really had much time or service to make any impact, or any real mistakes, so they all get a 5.

cudicini was shaky on a few crosses but his general performance was probably his best for us, some really key saves. Didn't deserve to concede today.

Hutton started off a little bit sloppy, but he improved quickly and was brilliant defensively at times, making some very telling interceptions and covering the rest of the defences frequent erring. He also brought the ball out of defence and was the only width we really had today.

Corluka wasn't too shabby actually. He's no centre back, but he filled in well for the most part. Unforunately, i believe it was he who should have been marking the goalscorer.

Bassong was poor positionally, beaten serveral times and really did not have a good day at the office.

Bale wasn't really breched defensively, but he barely contributed going forward. Further evidence that he's going to be a great left back, right?

Lennon made one brilliant run and cross for the unfortunately denied modric stunner. That aside, his awful form continues.

Huddlestone was passed by in the first half, and while involved in the second half, his passing was poor and he was just plain ineffective and sloppy.

Jenas was neat, he didn't do much wrong or right, barring one lovely interchange with keane which shamefully had no end product. Not the worst, not the best, just jenas.

Modric played well for the most part, but did get a little dragged down by the general performance. He and vdv linked nicely a few times and he was so much better than anyone else in our midfield 4 it's untrue.

Vdv took a knock, and i hope he's ok. He was the only player who looked at all like he could save us today, but t'wasn't to be.

Crouch offered no goal threat, his hold up play was poor and his touch was not there at all. Stellar.

Keane had one very good chance, and hit it very weakly. Other than that, he was his usual. Lot's of effort, nothing physically to back it up.

Giovani's introduction in place of vdv signalled to me the end of our game. And so it turned out to be. I'm not blaming the kid entirely or the club entirely, but this is just not going to happen, is it?

Pavlyuchenko ran around a fair bit, that's about as much as i can say. He looked more likely than the other two strikers to get a goal, but he still didn't look likely.

Bad day at the office. Bring on twente.

On current form the right back at my Sunday league team is better... Ohhh and he's a youth team coach at Spurs.

I've actually (not that you'd notice) been very critical of Charlie and his poor form all season, and have been saying for a few games that either Kaboul or Hutton should be given the opportunity to make RB their own. Kaboul was well on the way anyway, but nobody is more delighted than me to see Hutton playing so well there, and I've probably been harsher than most about him over the past couple of years.

And yes, I know he's no centre back, I think I even said that in my post, but by the same token, I felt he was ok today and definitely better than his partner who I am beginning to worry about a lot. That doesn't mean anything other than the fact that I believe our often superb right back is currently on a horrible patch of form in his preferred position, but performed relatively well today despite the teams overall poor showing.

As for your sunday league friend, I like to think that you're speaking tongue in cheek there, but unfortunately I reckon you might not be. You do realise that even the worst players we've had, I don't know, Jonnie Jackson for instance, would look like Hoddle if you saw them just having a kick around with ordinary sunday league players in a park. Or do you genuienly believe that Corluka is just that bad that even amongst you and your mates he would be poor? Because if you genuinely believe that, I can only advise that you seek help :shake:

Ermmm honestly??? IMO Corluka is S***!!!! Not good enough for Spurs first team and i genuienly think he's weak, slow, offers nothing going forward and lacks concentration! If Hutton can sort out his positioning then i'd have him infront of Corluka all day long.

As for the RB at my Sunday league team, he played for a championship team but unfortunately picked up a bad injury 3 years ago. He's now coaching at Spurs. Do i think he's better than Lurch? ermm if he was still playing Pro then YES!
