Think Timmeh proved a lot of doubters wrong today in his willingness to change his system, switch to one striker to shore up the midfield. And it worked a treat even if we didn't manage to do all that much with the ball before the first goal.

Loved bits of the high pressure that we did in the first half, the problem was that when they managed to play past the high pressure we dropped a bit too deep and there were times when they had far too much space 20-30 yards from goal, the Bony shot off the bar is an example of that. Still, once we scored Swansea never looked like getting back into it, and today certainly was Timmeh's best tactical performance so far.

Lloris - 7 - Solid enough, one save that he pushed straight back into a dangerous area. Good bit of quick thinking once when it looked like his momentum from the rush-out would take him outside the box and he released it to Rose.

Walker - 7 - Busts a gut every time, alert to dangers. Dangerous cross for 2-0 but otherwise couldn't cross to save his life.
Dawson - 6.5 - Couple of Donkey moments in the first half, could have given away a penalty, good second half.
Chiriches - 7.5 - Don't understand the negativity that comes his way at all. Good game.
Rose - 6 - The one position we really should be in the market for this window. Decent backup but no more. Good assist but I don't feel comfortable with his defending and he's a lazy sod if he loses the ball in attack.

Bentaleb - 7 - Solid. Not much more to say really.
Dembele - 7 - Same as Bentaleb.

Lennon - 6 - Not at his best but, as I've said before, the team always seems to play better when he's in it.
Eriksen - 8 - Maestro. Deserved a goal but excellent regardless.
Chadli - 6.5 - Solid performer but things aren't really happening for him. Skied a great chance where he absolutely should hit the target.

Adebayor - 8.5 - MOTM - Another talismanic display and it's good that he's not afraid to give bollockings to the others when they deserve it. I do like Soldado's applauding virtually everything but sometimes you need Bad Cop in there too.

Won't bother with sub ratings.

Sherwood - 8 - Really think he got it right today, both tactics and starting XI. More like this, please.

Fairly good performance. 7 for most other than rose a 6, Dembele a 6 as went missing for half the game and not passing to Ade cost us a goal (that is as bad as a defensive slip up that leads to us conceding in my opinion). Ade and Eriksen 8.5 as they were fantastic.

I can tell Chiriches is the flavour of the month and Dawson yet again can do no right in some people's eyes. Don't get me wrong Chiriches was excellent on the ball, but he gifted a chance to both Shelvey and Bony in the first half with poor defending. If that was Dawson he would be getting 4 ratings on here. Both were poor in the opening 30 minutes, but got much better as the game went on.

Despite that I thought we were very good after the first 30 minutes. We are playing much more entertaining football and Sherwood dispelled the myth he has no flexibility in his approach despite not even being in charge of 10 games yet.
Are you a fucking clairvoyant? How do you know that Ade would have scored? If he had passed to Ade and Ade had missed, I am sure you would have been berating Dembele for not shooting instead. The guy was unlucky, shit happens.

Adebayor MOM for his all round play and 2 goals.

Eriksen a close 2nd for being the brilliant link man and excellent assist.

Chadli was meh, as was Lennon.

Dembele and Bentaleb did just about enough in midfield. Nothing outstanding but solid displays.

Rose had his iffy moments but was industrious on the left resulting in an assist

The others were ok.

Point to ponder. We scored 3 goals for the first time this season in the league, and guess who was not playing up top?
Southampton 3-2
Stoke 3-0

Me thinks oooops :)

Ade - MOM

Vlad, Eriksen, Walker, Betaleb, Lloris - Had very good games

Chadli - not brilliant, but like most people really needs a run to build his confidence up and get teh confidence he needs to be the player we brought him into be.

Dembele - Mazy runs, but once again, as he does so often, doesn't release the ball at the most opportune times. Paulinho over him for sure.

Lennon - Beat a few players today and then proceed to provide very little end product. Lamela, like Eriksen, needs to be playing regular to adapt, build his confidence. Just simply not good enough, good impact sub though.

Rose - poor poor passing, needs to really improve his game.

Dawson - Need to watch the game again... Vlad and Verts at CB for me...

Siggy - Why did he even come on.

Naughton - Not sure what he really did, need to watch the game again and see his contribution after coming on.

Amazing that we won really, or you could be talking a load of bollocks for a change!

Ratings later but fair dos to Timmy for nailing the formation/tactics. IMO, it was pretty much the ideal set up. 4-3-3 (4-2-3-1), with one inverted and one out-and-out winger. Love it. Just imagine how much better it can when it looks like:

Lloris
Walker - Vlad/Kaboul - Verts - Rose
Sandro
Paulinho - Eriksen
Lamela - Ade - Townsend

God I would love to see this lot play together once this season.

Good team performance but with that traditional slightly fragile Spurs essence that kept you wondering right until the end. We retained the ball well for long second half periods but it was almost as if we got a bit bored before conceding the goal. Credit to the inexperienced Sherwood for recognising a need to alter / change tactics in a way that AVB, Harry and Jol would have struggled to do...........

Walker for me he was everywhere and at the end when we ran out of steam he still had the legs and the ability to counter attack so taking pressure off.

A very AVB-like performance I thought, which seems to have been lost on most.

We set up in exactly the way AVB would have done/did.

A very solid away performance again, although the critic in me looks at another stupid goal we have conceded.

Adebayor will no doubt get the plaudits, but I thought Eriksen was the one that just made everything work so he gets my vote for MOTM.

His ball in for the first goal was ridiculously good, even Gregorz Raziak would have put that away. Then that turn just before half time was beyond sublime.

He is going to be some player for us.

Decent team performance and as TS said we worked it out in the end. Took too long to sus out Shelvey's role going beyond Bony. Fraid the swans lack confidence at the moment

Played a system to frustrate Swansea and in the main it worked but scarificed one or two individual performances as a result

I gave MoM to Ade cos I hope he keeps it going to the end of the season. Eriksen is cetainly now playing telling passes and is causing opposition problems

Straight After the game I would have given everyone 10. It was so contrasting to the Palace-game in the way that we pressed like a unit and with purpose - ending up with stealing the ball from them and start counter attacks.

Now, couple of hours After I would give extra credit to chiriches, ade and Eriksen. They we're huge!

Also worth noting: Swansea are in crap form and this may have been easier Than we think.

We have set us up so that the City-game is kind of a bonus game. I like that:D

Eriksen was great today, just needs the freedom which I don't think AVB would give his teams.
