I wonder why now. Why this intent and willingness to spend. There must be something in the financials and/or our position that has changed. This kind of spend on a player has been our wet dream - but defo a dream - for such a long time.

Well, TV rights are greatly beneficial for one thing. Plus maybe we've just had enough of being overtaken by those mediocre pricks a few miles down the road.

Plus, if we sign Soldado, Chadli & Paulinho (anyone else'd be a plus imo) we could make that money back via finishing 4th or higher - or if we don't we cut our losses next year and sell Bale for £60m+. It legitimately is now or never.

I'm making myself paranoid now, all this Bale talk about a 6 year deal with Real, now he is out of today's training. What if, what if we have all this money to spend because we know Bale is going? Maybe Levy struck a deal with Madrid but told them to keep schtum so we could get our incomings dealt with first without clubs knowing we had £85m burning a hole in our pocket.
