For good or bad, unlike all other deals that Levy do, this deal is done in openly. I dont know what the outcome will be- but I can guarantee that Valencia is making this an open affair - so that they could show to the Govt in Spain they are trying to get the maximum out of Soldado deal.
They leaked Baldini arrival to press, who just happen to arrive at the hotel & meeting place where Baldini met Soldado agent. Then leaked "allegedly" false story to Radio station and they continue to put out information in form or other.

Obviously only their side of the story is coming out. Just like Marca story of Bale, this Liverpool meeting release clause could be fabricated lie. Who knows.

I for one happy that Levy is handling this. Unlike Benteke deal (where I really got pissed off when the deal fell through dramatically), Levy has my full support.

But the problem now is Liverpool. If they really go after Soldado have a feeling they will get him. That will be so bad for us in CL ambition.

So question for Levy is - bite the bullet,do the deal now or let it drag and watch Liverpool taking him and us settling for a lesser target...

I think if Liverpool offer a better deal to Valencia, Soldado will go there.

Well it could be the difference I suppose. I wouldn't anticipate a massive disparity in financial packages though and Soldado wasn't earning that much at Valencia when you consider his quality.

I don't think they would be blowing us out of the water.

Liverpool ain't doing shit.

If they were interested why would the wait until we were interested? Load of old cobblers.

Soldado appears to want to come here too. SO F.O. LIVERPLOL.

The only way we'll get him now is if we meet the clause IMO. They have no choice then. As long as we don't meet it they have enough time to try to get other clubs to meet it and that's exactly what they'll do. It's a risky game to play from our end, either Valencia are forced to accept our lower offer on their deadline or another club comes in and gazumps us by meeting the clause. That's my take on it.

If Soldado gets to the position where he has to make a choice between us or Liverpool then 2 minutes with Brendan Rogers will send him hurtling our way.

But in the here and now he's going to get the same wages whether he chooses us or them, and no CL football with either of us, so I reckon he'll be happy to come to us or Liverpool, it will just be a matter of who offers Valencia's chairman the best deal. Not a case of him saying I want Spurs more so a won't go to Liverpool.
No reason why we both can't offer an accepted deal. If that happens it comes down to the player..

This President is new, could he be trying to earn his stripes by acting like a complete blowhard against one of the toughest negotiators in world football? We'll probably get the deal we want and he gets to say that he went toe to toe with the man who made Aulas his bitch and didn't get ripped a new one.

He's saying its more posturing IMO. Spurious means lacking in validity ie he's inferring the chairman is leaking bullshit about the release clause being met.

FFS.

I just wrote out a long assed post going through all Jaspers' weird grammatical usage and the different ways they could be interpreted and explaining what I thought Jasper was getting at and what I think he meant to say but somehow erased it all by mistake.

I know what the words he is using mean, I just find the way he constructs his posts very odd and the way he does it leaves them pen to some interpretation.

True, but it rarely happens on a deal like this IMO. Liverpool aren't going to tell us what they are offering and we can't trust Valencia to tell us the truth necessarily. And it can then get into a head to head auction with Valencia going back and forth saying "well spurs have matched your offer" and Liverpool saying "OK we'll offer slightly better terms of payment" etc. etc.

Difficult.

Soldado: Hello Brendan, what can you offer me that Spurs can't?
Rodgers: I'm an entertainer first and a manager second.
Soldado: Kthxbye

I think Jasper was slightly pissed off when he was writing that to be honest.

Problem with "paying the clause" is that the player has to pay it and then pay taxes on it in Spain.

I imagine that is what jasper is alluding to with the taxes and the crazy deal. Their leverage is to say they'll only do the deal if the clause is activated and then the deal would be 40m with the taxes instead of 30m.

Obviously this doesn't stand up as well when the team is dying for money though.

Can anyone make head or tail of what playboypaul is trying to say here?

Not sure Liverpool would want Soldado. They seem to be only paying transfer fees for younger players Under 25.
