Harry blaming the tension in the crowd for poor first halves. What's the reason away from home?

There are obviously positives so far this season but it’s been a frustrating one nonetheless. We haven’t played well at all, not even once. We’ve lost to every single team we’re competing with or want to be competing with. We start every game badly and can’t match our opponents’ intensity. Right-back is a glaring weakness. It does feel like we’ve regressed from the second half of last season.

I frequently complain about the refs but today was truly shocking

I’m the opposite in that I generally look at our own failings rather than blame the officials, but yes, today the old chant of ‘the referee’s a wanker’ is justified.

In saying that, a bit less passive ( yet again!) in the 1st half, more composure in the final third and not making basic defensive errors yet again and we would have won.

A very frustrating watch.

How is Conte still picking Royal over Doherty? Its genuinely mindblowing, everyone except Conte can see what a terrible wing back he is. Hate to say it but Sessengon on the other side isn't much better. We basically need a whole new backline and keeper over the next 2 windows. We've been moaning about Dier, Sanchez, Davies, Lloris etc for years, they are all capable of having good games but there's always some ridiculous mistake just around the corner.

It's a complete mystery to me too why he's picking Emerson over Doherty, and I agree with you about Sessignon (as I've said previously, and got slated for it). He's just not good enough, but the good news is that next season, we've got the lad from Udinese arriving Udogie, and he's much more of a left sided wing back.

Defensively, I agree with you again. We've been piss-poor these last few games and have been found wanting far too often, so a refreshing few new signings would be great to upgrade on Lenglet, and perhaps Dier.

Hugo, despite having saved our backsides a couple of times recently with some outstanding saves, is unfortunately also more than capable of dropping a bollock, and perhaps we should start looking around. Someone like Dean Henderson perhaps, who's probably going to get relegated with Forest this season, but he's a quality 'keeper, and of course, he's English.

Once again a wretched first half. I'm sick to death of saying that this season.

Just watched Harry's post match interview...he's looking f***ing exhausted!

Interviewer even asked him at the end how he was holding up physically. We just don't have the depth to deal with a run of injuries. We looked a different team when Kulu came on which shows how much we miss individuals.

Referee was absolutely shocking....seems a completely different standard for us versus the likes of city. Maddening.

We weren't nearly as bad as some have been saying in the first half, compared to first half performances in recent games away to Man Utd, Bournemouth and Marseille, and Sporting Lisbon at home we were better than that and showed more intent and weren't nearly as passive as we were in those games. I think the howler from Dier that gifted them the second goal is clouding people's judgment of how bad we really were overall in the first 45 mins.
Admittedly we weren't great but not half as bad as people are saying.

Stirring and brave second half performance where we gave it everything and just came up short. I'm really encouraged by having Kulu back and it we can bag a win in the last game at home to Leeds before the World Cup break that would be great.

We're in the CL knock out stages and still very much right in the mix for top 4 and have players to come back from injury so much to be optimistic about going into the second half of the season. That and a decent transfer window in January.

You're right we weren't as bad. I think some of us, me included are using the wrong phrasing. It's not about how bad we were but more lacking the attacking intent the way we have in second halves. I'd rather start the game in the way we end games, win the game then sit back with half hour remaining.

We play some good stuff, our players all of a sudden know how to pass quick and incisive when we push up 20 yards and attack. Our players are suited more to an attacking game than a defensive one.

Let’s be honest, everyone is feeling the pressure of arsenal being top of the league.
If they were 5th, we’d be calmer about our position

let’s remember this:
6points behind city (without playing them yet ?)
Topped the group in CL

go into the World Cup like that- you have to be satisfied.
Above Liverpool, Chelsea and Utd to put it into perspective and that's with bad luck on injuries to key players

If there was one team in the league that was going to make it fairly straightforward for Liverpool to get back on track it was us. We rarely beat them even when they're playing shite.

Main positive for me from that game was Bissouma.

Finally looked confident and like the Bissouma we thought we'd signed. Excellent close control and actually taking risks on the ball and playing with some cojones, rather than just making simple Harry Winks backwards passes all game.
Ageeed! Such a baller.

So frustrating that our defense and attack have been poor and injury hit because we have four or five great CM options.

Doesn’t matter if we had ten attackers. The pint is we have a coach who is scared and does nothing until we are in trouble … which happens in almost every match. He is defensively minded and has always been. He will never change so the grind goes on

...yet I heard from Harry recently, that it's not Conte who's telling us to play like a bunch of haddocks in the first halves, it's the players themselves who choose to start all our games cautiously. If that's the case, we're fucked. Who do we believe?

If you count being absolutely battered for 45 minutes and only getting away with the points because of a dodgy ref and a poor error "fairly straightforward " then yeah...

Do we have a psychologist at the Club? Clearly there is some mental issue. Its unbelievable how our mentality shifts after half time.
I think the footballers are so delicate they're worried that if they are seen to be hiring/visiting a psychologist that it will lead to jokes on social media which hurt their feelings, and then in turn a shrink, and then it's a downward spiral that leads all the way to being a talksport presenter...

I also feel part of the problem is when we start we are very tense as a team, worried about making mistakes, afraid to take chances and go for passes. I genuinely think a lot of the players are scared to upset Conte, they know their place in the team is hanging by a thread...I see it especially with the younger guys like Bissouma and Sess. We look nervey as f*** and scared.

Once we go down we have nothing to lose, we open up and become freer and have less fear.

Not sure what the solution is.....
