I was about to say - whybe shit at two positions when we can be shit at one but I still think Doherty is not great so much of a muchness.

Id have played Doherty at RWB and put Sanchez at the back with Davies LWB and not sure why we cannot do that.
Or Roden cb.
Or Bergwijn at lwb.
I'd rather any of those 3 options over Emerson at rwb and Doherty at lwb.
Its one of these situations where 'WE'VE TRIED THIS BEFORE AND IT DOESNT FUCKIN WORK!!'

Expect 4.1 Spurs. Emerson brace, 2 assists from Doherty.

Players out of position is never good... you could also play Davies at LWB and play Sanchez or Rodon at CB... I guess that Conte doesn't want to break up the 3 CB partnership we have at the moment.

I can see why Conte doesnt want to meddle with the back three - they have a solid undersatnding now but needs must and you have someone who can play LWB over someone who barely plays RWB let alone LWB.

I suspect at some point this will be changed and could do at HT. Need a fast scoring start

I don’t understand why we don’t just go 433 and gave Davies LB.
Anyway early goal is important today.

Oh I definitely think we're winning this if our tempo is good...

Just wouldn't be surprised if we concede from a set piece

Yea I do agree which is another reason rodon should have come in for reggie

Just what I was thinking. I know conte loves this set up but in a one off game where we don't have a left sided wing back, just go 4231 and play in a conventional way.

Seeing as Newcastle are quite physical upfront, I’d have switched Davies to lwb, and brought in Rodon for the fight and aerial ability. But then, what do I know?

Was really hoping he wouldnt go with the wingbacks he has. Moving an already limited player to play on the left to then bring in one of our worst signings.
As others stated would much sooner have kept doherty on the right and stuck bergwijn on the left.
Expecting our left hand side to be a shambles today.

But there's 3 lads on there who we've no idea whether they'd change the game or not.

At least give them a chance to prove you right before claiming they're not capable of proving you wrong.
Problem is it seems neither Conte or previous managers have any intention of doing so

We would have a better bench if Winks wasn’t on it (or in today’s match day squad) :cautious:
