Absolutely love Sonny but one reason weve struggled to really push forward in is in games like today where he has to touch the ball facing his own goal.

He really struggles to do this and it often puts us back under pressure.

Richarlison excells at this aspect so we should have that dimension now of being able to play through it.

Sonny will have better days but today just wasn't his game

It was (IMO) intensity. We didn’t need this change or that, we just needed to be better than we showed. We started the second half with all of the players a lot of people were wanting to be taken off. Strange that ?

In the end, as poor as we were, we didn’t exactly give up a load of chances, stayed fairly solid and then played very well in the second half, we could easily have scored three or four.

There’s a lot more to come from our team.
Yeah, totally this.

I think we have areas we can improve with personnel (for example CBs who can carry ball forward) but today there was a severe lack of intensity in that first half and that's why we were poor.

Son was so loose with the ball, Kane hardly moved and when he did he slipped, Kulusevski struggled and our midfield didn't use the ball well enough.

Some players need to raise their game.

Early dsys. Teams find their form, fitness and best 11 as games pass. The team mentality wants to win games and although looking a little off the pace, we are unbeaten. New players will change the squade dynamics which needs to settle . We can only get better with time. So far weve found a way to get results without playing too well. This can only been seen as a good thing.

There’s a reason he’ll probably remain part of my avatar on here; the only person I’ve ever idolised.

Met him when England played Brazil in the Umbro Cup (when I had no idea who he was) but sadly never once he was the great he became.

Elder folk may disagree but easily the best finisher in my lifetime, and I’d be shocked if I witness anybody better.
I am convinced he would have become widely recognised as the greatest player ever if he hadn't suffered those injuries. He had everything plus the size and power. Magnificent player.

We’re still finding our best team imo, as we integrate new players and get others up to full fitness. For me, Romero, Doherty and Bissouma all come into that XI when everyone is 100%. Also, if Son’s poor form continues then Richarlison should come in.

The positives from yesterday were that Sanchez did fine, Richarlison looks sharp and Perisic looks a big upgrade on our left. We need to see some improvement at Forest next week though ahead of the trip to West Ham.

The positives are that we really are well off our best at the moment. Oddly we started to dominate at one point in the first half and then completely let it go again, it was like we knew we were forcing them back and so relaxed. Wolves were fiery, tenacious and hardworking making it very difficult for us and when you aren't at your best that's hard to deal with but deal with it we did.
I have to say I was pleased to see Mourinho and Podence go off together for Jiminez and someone else as they lost a lot of guile and dynamism and I thought that's going to open up some space which proved to be right. From our point of view Richarlison was the right choice and while I worried about Sessignon coming on to face Treore he handled him well enough. Also bringing Bisouma on late to shore up the team and see us out for the win is a real upgrade on last year.
Not at our best but while Wolves looked busy Lloris didn't have to make a save and we got the win and that's the mark of a team to fear.
PS how excited am I that after what seems like decades we are actually scoring goals from corners!

First half showed why we need a LCB upgrade.
Perisic made like 5 very good runs - Davies & Dier either overhit the pass or Davies too late to spot his run.

As good as Davies been, I really want to see Lenglet geting game time with Perisic ahead. Even if Lenglet is defensively weak, what he gives going forward trumps his perceived weakness

This might be bias, but I actually find our football interesting. The way we play means both teams look like they're in the match. Knife edge football. If we go on a losing streak I'm sure my view will change, but we won't.

It's funny to me how when we're poor it's never because of the other team who stifled and stopped us from playing, yet we make others look bad.

It was down to Wolves and our own lack of intensity. Once we upped it and made some changes it looked much better.

I don't see us as boring, as when we get going the fast incisive passing is a joy to watch to me.

We have scored 7 in 3 games. We were not off it v Southampton. Far from it. So I don't agree when people include that game. We went behind sure, but I genuinely felt that was against the run of play and we still controlled it.

I wonder if Conte is still beasting the lads in training. I noted a comment from Jenas about us looking like we played a match last night and look leggy. Maybe he’s still building on our fitness ready for the latter part of the season.

it’s clear that we haven’t found our rhythm yet so the fact that we have 7 points is a massive bonus. Once we click, we will give a few teams a good hiding.

I guess scoring the most goals in 2022 is awful. Also, 10W, 3D and 1L in our last 14 games is worrying, two of those draws being away at Liverpool and Chelsea. Also worrying that in these last 14 games we won 5-1, 4-0, 5-0, 3-0, 3-1, 3-1, 2-0, 4-1, conceding only once more than 1 goal per game. Of course then, winning 1-0 after a good second half and crap first half is a disaster, given our recent games.

Maybe you should also look at when the games where played since between the first 11 and the other 3 there has been a summer. If you would actually watch the game Wolves would probably have been a few goals up in the first half if they had a competent striker. Also, having 20% possession at home against a team like wolves is not something I consider good.

But again, people are basically putting words in the mouths of others. I'm very happy with the results we have, and was very pleased with the end of last season. Which is why I actually expected a bit more from a game like yesterdays.

Not sure if interesting is the right description of our football. Our inability to maintain possession along with allowing opponents to have the ball without an obvious press creates issues. We get outplayed/ out numbered in the middle of the park irrespective of opposition.

Our football is very all or nothing at the moment.

When the automations work and everyone's on it, we can be really exciting going forward as we're incredible at exploiting space. We absolutely murdered some teams at the end of last season and I think our attacking stats were practically the best in the league. A lot of those games were really really enjoyable, I thought.

Problem is, when teams shut down our rigid way of playing, our default is simply to sit very deep absorbing pressure and being hard to break down, which is dogshit to watch.

I think it's the nature of Conte teams, really. They are extremely effective and hard to beat, even when they aren't at their best, but it's feast or famine in terms of pure enjoyment to watch.

Agreed. Sometimes I wish we could hold on to the ball a little bit more.

Great we got the win but a few areas we can improve on immediately. If Peresic is on the pitch he should take corners and inswinging free kicks before Sonny, as his are more dangerous.

I know it's early days but I was mystified and a little frustrated that Peresic was nowhere near that dangerous situation we had on 10 mins with that inswinging free kick, given how good both his corner deliveries were in the previous week in the last couple of mins against Chelsea that led to our equaliser.

We had clear height advantage over Wolves particularly in the first half and a dangerous whipped in free kick from Peresic could have seen us go 1-0 up early on and changed the tempo of that sluggish first half, instead Sonny took it and it was wasted and it seemed to set the tone throughout that first half.

Sonny has improved his corners but they're still not quite in the same league as deliveries from Peresic so we should make full use of it and occasionally mix it and was pleased to see corner duties change in the second half with Peresic taking more of then than Son.

We will kick on and whilst Sonny is a great player to have, there's no doubt that his form and decision making have dipped in these first 3 games, as well as wasting the free kick he wasted a good chance when put through by Kane, and instead of blasting a shot to the hit the outside of the post from too tight an angle, he could have slipped a 2 yard pass to Davies who would almost certainly have put us 2 up as he was well inside the 6 yard boss. To Sonny's credit he had a hand in the goal as his corner was flicked on by Peresic, but he will come out of this dip in form and improve and get back to his best again.

My other slight niggles, Conte in two games has waited too long to make changes to combat us from getting outplayed and outnumbered in the midfield. We've been fortunate that we've gotten away with it in successive games but sooner or later if we don't heed the signs and bring on Bissouma to counter it we will be punished.

My other slight niggle, again on decision making PEH, had a chance to slip a ball through with a forward pass of less than two yards to his left with two players in really dangerous positions, instead he dithered and was brought down and a great chance of another dangerous attack was spurned.

Small margins yes and they haven't proved our undoing yet but on other days we could pay the price.

To end on a positive note we have so many options and game changers on the bench we can make great use of the 5 subs rule and we have garnered 7 points from 9 when it's evident we have a few gears to go up in as far as improving goes so by that reasoning it bodes well.....

It was a game of 2 half's, they dominated the ball 1st half without creating anything clear cut, second half we pressed them much better and created much better chances and deserved the win.

Why are a certain few wetting their pants over the performance?

You guys do realise that the other team play the game as well and won't roll over and let us have it all our way?

Can we improve? Yes!, should we be worried? No!

Where’s the 20% possession stat come from? Because I can tell you now it’s bollocks. And Wolves would not have been a few goals up with a competent striker. While they were much better than us in the first half, the header from Nunes was their best chance by a mile. For the most part we restricted them to long range efforts and shots that were easily blocked. They created very little despite being on top.

I actually was at the game and agreed that the first half was bad. But the second half was good and it came from a team that proved can play well.

That's why I think your assessment of "awful" and narrow wins is nonsense, we haven't struggled to win games recently, and yesterday was deserved after all the chances in the second half. Football is 90 minutes not 45.

Completely disagree, Davies has been tremendous for us.
