There is no reason why we can' t pull off a performance as good as the Everton game.

There isn't, and that came pretty much out of the blue. Let's not forget, though, that we really turned it on for perhaps 35-40 minutes after we went behind—it was like Popeye eating his spinach, or the Hulk Hulking out. We spent most of the second half on tthe back foot, defending our lead.

We took a point from the Gooners in a bus-parking exercise, but last season we dominated possession and had them under siege (although we were just as wasteful as they were this season).
Last season Arsenal comfortably beat us. AVB had his pants pulled down and arse smacked by Wenger. IIRC we did not have a shot on target?
This season we were comfortable and if it wasn't for a silly mistake we win.

Last season we saw more of the ball than they did but we created nothing. Only one real chance that Soldado snapped at in the last ten minutes IIRC.

This season, although we saw far less of the ball, we actually looked much more threatening on the counter. Disappointing that we couldn't make more of those promising counter attacks.

All three of them.

I'd love to see a Bentaleb, Paulinho and Mason midfield three tomorrow. Give Eriksen some freedom. Lennon pressing hard with Kane up top. Push the full backs right up the pitch. They love playing from the back, a high press could really reap rewards tomorrow.

It really isn't. Of our three wins, two (Villa and Hull) have come about because the opposition had a man sent off. The third came from an injury-time goal that was completely against the run of play—let's be real, if the Spammers had taken their chances earlier on we'd have been dead and buried. We were completely outplayed, embarrassingly so.

I watched the West Ham away game and saw an even contest. After Collins walked we totally dominated except for the Downing miss. Embarrassingly outplayed? Totally against the run of play? Totally wrong.

We were also better than most knee jerkers think against Villa and Hull. Not great, but I for one can never accept a view that a game would have turned out a certain way were it not for x or y. There are always too many variables.

I'm objectively seeing the positives where they genuinely exist. I can also write much more on how shite some of our other performances have been, but not this time.

All three of them.

You're a tough crowd. Three or four is plenty, United weren't exactly prolific creating chances there but still walked off with the points. We might well have done the same but our front four still has no real rhythm or pattern to it unfortunately. And no consistent performers.

Can only see a lucky draw at best.

We can't defend and we can't score. Most likely a defeat unless the ref does us a solid

You don't.

As B-C says, we weren't comfortable; they were inept.

We got the results we should have expected against Villa, Hull and the Spammers, but were you pleased with the performances? Against Sunderland, we were a deal better, but slipped up and threw away two points in a fixture we should have won decisively. We took a point from the Gooners in a bus-parking exercise, but last season we dominated possession and had them under siege (although we were just as wasteful as they were this season).

And we are not getting the expected results at home (Newcastle , west brom, palace, stoke).
Think we are decent away from home as the smaller clubs have to attack us a bit more than they do at home when they sit in with numbers behind the ball and we can't break them down and get hit on the break

Yeah do what you want, what do I care. Just find it strange that you post on forums and are showing an interest but your not watching a game that's live on sky

People seriously want Poolinho to start?!? Dayum!

To be fair, I don't think it particularly matters what side we put out. I'm not convinced that any of our players this season have really coated themselves in glory.

Poch: unsure. I don't want him to be sacked. Although some of his decisions at times, and starting selections, and substitutions have been like Mensa IQ tests trying to work out what the thought process was behind them. Just baffling.
Does appear that he won't take shit, though. Which is good in my book.
Mind you, these fairy footballers like a nice easy ride don't they, so wrongly, they'd probably like a manager who's all pink smoke, lavender farts and fairytales.

I dunno. Gonna be a hard game, and if we win, great! I kind of expect us to win, but it's the manner of the win which is more important to a lot of fans at the minute IMO.
If we scrape a scrappy 2-1 with sendings off for Swansea, it'll be funny, but also dick.

Hope for the best but fear the worst has always been my motto with Tottenham. I'll be surprised if we get anything at Swansea today. Bony and Siggi can be lethal. I think they have better centre backs than us too. We have a better keeper obviously but thats about it.

That was for about 20 minutes when it went to 10 v. 10. We were, to be fair, quite bright at the start before fading, but they were ridiculously wasteful (especially Noble's penalty miss), and we could easily have been stuffed. At least we didn't dissolve after the sending-off like we did last season, which was certainly a positive.

I always feel embarrassed when we're not clearly the better side against that lot.
