Yes that's right, Bale replacing the ineligible Adebayor. I despair at the thought of Pav up front on his own and I reckon Defoe will be better to use as an impact sub.

Citeh will come at us and I rate our chances in this game better than the last few home games at WHL where visiting teams have placed twelve men behind the ball and stifled us. A point would be nice but there's no reason why we can't nick this one.:stupid:

Can't believe i am going to say this but, it would be nice to see Defoe smash a couple directly at the keeper, this lack of direct shooting we have witnessed of late does eventually get a bit frustrating. Sometimes wish Adebayor/Bale would just put his foot through it instead of dallying about then trying to place it top corner.

I understand the hyopcrisy in my statement lol. We need some balance though. Also can't believe im complaining about this Spurs side. However you can't just sit and be happy, always have to strive to improve otherwise you fall behind, it's the nature of the game.

Bale and Lennon cutting in and getting beyond VDV.

VDV offers more tenacity and links the play up a lot more than Defoe. I think this would really work, as I said in the other thread Villa away last season where VDV got his second goal involved that front three in those positions, great move and a great goal.

That's the team I would honestly play.

Wouldn't exactly send the right message to Defoe if Harry decides to play bale upfront instead of him. With no Kompany Defoe could actually cause Man City a few problems. That kid Savic just doesn't look up to it just yet.

But with Parker, Modric, Sandro/Livermore and VDV coming deep I think thats exactly what we would do...allowing Bale and Lennon to get ahead of him.

Defoe up front on his own is bad news, regardless of what defensive pairing we come across, which it looks like it will be Lescott and Savic.

City will probably edge the possession so we need to be efficient and clinical on the ball and hard working off it, but we still need some kind of focal point up front for others to work off. I can see where Mr Pink is coming from by not only having a dynamic front three of VdV, Bale and Lennon, but also not adopting a 4411 and having three in the middle of Parker, Modric and a Pienaar or Livermore which should hopefully tip the midfield battle in our favour over Barry and De Jong.

Having said all that, we all know Defoe will feature and I'd be amazed if Harry doesn't plump for 4411 which we can all deduce who goes where - this can work but also if City come at us strong early doors, we could be terribly exposed and conceding possession willy nilly.

More than anything though, I hope that King is back and that Kaboul is moved back to the right hand side of defence.

Defoe upfront on his own isn't the worst idea, he's actually better at recieving a pass to feet with his back to goal than Adebayor.

His sharp movement is good because Lescott is slow and fat. (for a footballer :grin
