IMO we currently have a reasonable squad however we failed to strengthen significantly enough in the last two windows considering we had the added bonus of offering CL football. It is clear that we need to strengthen now in a number of key areas but especially up front. I won't be too disappointed if we don't strengthen in midfield or defence as our current squad is sufficient for this season as long as we keep our key and fringe players. I feel though that we really need two quality forwards to challenge for the top 4. At the beginning of the window we were being linked with a number of excellent goal scoring forwards like Falcao, Llorente and Rossi plus quite a few wide playing attackers e.g. Hulk, Mata, Vincenzo, Ruiz etc. These to me were all excellent options to improve our team. Maybe they were pipedreams but they were my/our pipedreams and the ITK kept saying that they were posssible. The blue part of B&Y would not have been far from my first choice but when he is on his day he clearly can be excellent. I also acknowledge that he is better than any of our current forwards. So I have now come around to realising that he is probably the best that we can now achieve with what we can offer with no CL. Overall I am still remaining hopeful about this window but I know that I am going to be disappointed if we only buy one quality forward. God knows how I will feel if we don't get any.

The Harry/Levy lovers often accuse fans of playing too much football manager ... yet isn't that what our beloved club are doing? Chasing pipe dreams instead of buying 'decent' proven players ... like N'Zogbia (gone), Adam (gone), Fellaini? (expensive but Everton are broke), Cahill (enquired and will probably sign him in 3 yrs) ...

6 days to go and I don't want to think about the potential repercussions of failing in yet another transfer window.
