Interesting trend seems to be occurring.
Both players linked for up front have a strong link to VdV.
Do you think someone's asking his opinion on who he'd like to link up with?
Just a thought.

yes he was but we signed him from madrid . not that it makes a slighest differnence but i wud be more confident in signing a player vdv with his pedigree from club like that. who has ur man played for bar hamburg?

just to add i think spurs are now at stage where we dont need to gamble on a if but and maybe striker. Imo we need proven class and quality, the cherry on top type player. but that costs money im afriad hence fuck all been done

Who has Modric played for apart from Spurs? Let's be honest, we're no different to Hamburg in terms of where we are. We've had one season in the Champions League and now we're Billy Big Bollocks?

Maybe we should let a big team like Real Madrid buy him and then realise.... "Fuck, he's played for Real Madrid, he no longer wants to play for us lowly bastards, so we're stuck with Peter Crouch for another season!"

That sounds like a great plan. That way we let all the talented players sign for the better teams and we stay where we are. Genius.

Haha, you are right there actually.

Ive got the Sunday blues after the depressing itk. Watching man shitty didn't help earlier. Looking to have amazing strength in depth now.

Until we have a new ground we won't be able to compete so we better get used to our new rivals everton and fulham!

Why would you even bother watching City? thats not going to help your mood

strikers and top class ones are a dying breed imo and its a position any club must strive to get best they can. Hence why they cost so much. Modric is midfield player but even when we signed him he had proven quality and was very well regarded.

I agree we are no bigger than some teams, prob little better than hamburg. not in stadium mind. absolute quaity stadium and surrounds! But in there lies half the problem i think. Spurs fans think we are bigger and better than we actually are IMO! and if that was case we wud have signed 2 or 3 strikers by now. Rock and hard place at moment so Levy needs to pull something out of bag

It's a choice between talk to the mrs or watch football! Not a difficult choice. Haha

I'm researching my dreamteam for this year so trying to watch as much footy as possible. Won my league at work last season. Got a lot of pressure riding on my shoulders. I'm going for the double.

If that was our attitude we would certainly be minimising our options.

It doesn't work like that anyway, Madrid sold us VDV for 8 million for Christ stake.

We arnt going to sign the current best stars in the world, we need to nab them before they hit that level.

Just seen the new sky sports fantasy football advert with redknapp and jeff stelling. If you dont want to punish yourselves further then avoid it like the plague. He discusses how he needs a striker then suggests defoe and drogba "a Big'un and a little un." Then to top it all at the end he says "what do you mean we have no money left??" Feel like it was made to punish us further!

That's what I'm saying, in a nutshell. We seem to think we can get a Benzema/Eto'o type. We're dreaming!

Players like this guy at Hamburg, we have to take a chance on one of them (not saying this guy in particular, cos I can't say I know him, to be honest).

But we have to face facts, that's the kind of player we can realistically sign. They may turn out to be a Berbatov-like success, or they may end up being a Rebrov. That's the chance you take.

Yes! This, in a nutshell, is what I'm trying to say.

We need to discover the Agueros, Falcaos, Hulks, etc, before they make it to a level where they think they're too good/big for us.

Indeed.

We also need to shrewd, picking the right player with the right attributes. This guy for Hamburg I havn't seen much of but he looks handy alright.

yeah i agree but second i heard his name pop up im questioning why club like bayern munich let him go? ok they have or had one or 2 top strikers so he wanted to leave but still. Again with reagrds strikers , you can get away with signing an ok decent midefielder or defewnder but if striker is not the standard u need or require it becomes very evident very quickly. Question marks all over that lad been honest for me

I'd rather take a chance on Osvaldo of Espanyol. I've never been impressed by Guerrero, maybe he has just gone stale at Hamburg?

Its a big step down from the names we have talked up, but maybe we need a reality check

I like Osvaldo as a dark horse purchase. Not many seem to agree though. I happen to think he'd potentially take the PL by storm, with his blend of pace, work rate, first touch/skill and decent strength. He'd enjoy the open spaces of our league..

Absolutely! And Dawson, Huddlestone, Lennon, Sandro, BAE, the list goes on!

We can't compete for the Upper Echelon players, we have to make our own. There's nothing wrong with that, we're still reaching for the top, we haven't made it yet. One season in the Champions League doesn't give us the pull of a Barcelona or a Real Madrid...

But our expectations have, rightly or wrongly, been raised by our recent steps in the right direction. So now we want it all. I guess it's the nature of the WANT IT NOW society we live in. Patience is now something we're blessed with in abundance!

just read harrys latest about players wages etc and reading between lines does not bode well at all. Nothing we did not know before but still failry depressing reading with less than 2 weeks now to start of season. Not the positivity players and fans want to hear but that the reality of it.
