Tottenham v Burnley
_46434185_tottenham_burnley.gif

Tottenham started really well but now they have played - and lost to - two of the top four and it's been a bit of a reality check for them. They now know they have still got quite a long way to go to get up there themselves.

In saying that, they could finish, along with Man City, top of the rest of the league.

Burnley have not been good on the road, and have suffered a couple of injuries in the last week too - Martin Paterson is out for a while and so is Chris McCann, who are both players they will miss.

Tottenham have got an embarrassment of riches up front so I can't see them struggling to score goals in this one.

Verdict: 3-0

I can see Burnley getting a goal too, but wouldn't it be nice to get a clean sheet and go on a nice little run defensively as we did last season.

Would be nice, but we just don't have that solid defence........shouldn't be long before both King and Woody are back :liar:

You've gotta love Lawro. Liverpool lose 2 league games and they are now back on track to conquer the world. We lose two league games, against arguably the best two teams in the country, and we have to accept that as a reality check and are now heading for 5th place at most.

We did manage to lose 1 nil at home against ten men for 30 minutes, and look easily contained, and could have received a real hiding from Chelsea.

There's a definite qualitative difference, even if 60% of Liverpool is still Gerrard and Torres.

That's still not as bad as being tonked 3-1 in your own back yard against Villa who themselves haven't looked as solid as they were last season IMO. I also think we could've won at Stamford Bridge had we put away our chances and that 3-0 wasn't a particularly fair indication on the actual game.

This week's musings from the bindipper:

Bolton v Tottenham
Tottenham tend to bully teams lower in the table and can score goals from all sorts of different areas. But Bolton are on a good run themselves and this will be a big test of Spurs' away form.
I know there have not been many draws in the Premier League this season but I can see this one ending up all-square, which wouldn't be the worst outcome for either team.
Verdict: 1-1

After, what?, 7 defeats in our last 8 league visits, I'd probably settle for that.

I think "bully" is a bit of an exageration but its certainly a nice change to be described this way - even if he is a c***
