I can't quite figure out what it is exactly, but there is something that is inherently likable about Pochettino. Perhaps it's his humility or just his general demeanour but there is certainly something that makes him very easy to admire.
I think it's his cheeks mate...they just look so pinchable.
That's definitely it.

I've just seen Poch's pre match press conference on SSN where he explained why he has dropped Andros Townsend for his moment of indisclipine on Monday.

I am really impressed with how Poch is stamping his authority and sending out the message that no one is bigger than the club.

The press conference was on Sky Sports News.

There is an article on their website http://www.skysports.com/football/n...os-townsend-dropped-after-tottenham-coach-row

Andros Townsend dropped after Tottenham coach row

Andros Townsend is yet to start a Premier League game for Tottenham this season
Andros Townsend has been dropped by Tottenham in the wake of his row with a fitness coach.

The England winger was pictured arguing with Nathan Gardiner during a post-match warm-down after the Monday Night Football win over Aston Villa.

And Mauricio Pochettino says Townsend will not feature against Anderlecht on Thursday as punishment for his breach of discipline.

"He did not train with the group and he is not available for selection tomorrow," the Spurs boss told his pre-match press conference. "When you behave in the wrong way, obviously you need to pay.

"It's my decision when he is available again. For me, discipline is very important. We have a very young squad and they can make mistakes, but when you cross the limit it's important to stop that.

"As a manager I am very friendly, but discipline is very important between us and the staff. The staff need to show respect to the players and the players need to show respect to the staff.

Townsend has been a regular fixture on the bench this season for Mauricio Pochettino's (l) side
Townsend has started just three games this season - two in the Europa League and one in the League Cup - but has been told he still has a future at White Hart Lane.

Pochettino said: "He is still young. He has recognised he made a mistake. He has apologised. I can understand because I was a player and when you're not playing you are not happy.

"Sometimes your expectations are bigger than what your manager provides you, but it's not normal behaviour and he understands it's the not the way he needs to take to impress the manager.

"All players have a future. It's up to them to have a future here. Football can change quickly. He is in our squad because we believe in him and believe he can do very good things, but it's up to the player to show me I am wrong with my previous decisions."

Sky sources say Townsend is disappointed with the club's decision but he has apologised to all concerned.

Real insight into what a hard bastard Poch is.

'When you behave in the wrong way you always need to pay.'

I like it when this thread gets bumped. Makes me wonder whether there are people who are only just realising.
It's a trip reading earlier pages/posts...

Not what we need. Needs repeating again and again.....We need an experienced coach who has a history of winning trophies. Our current squad is in absolute disarray. Players unhappy, some possibly looking to leave. We need a manager who will have their instant respect the minute they they walk though the door.
The last thing we need is a novice manager taking charge of our squad. We'll be back to square one.
Who do you think the likes of Vertonghen, Lloris, Paulinho, Eriksen etc would want to see as manager?
Benitez/De Boer or Pochetinno?
Would be underwhelmed to say the least if our next manager was Pochetinno...

And that's a very tame one. Some absolute corkers lurk in this thread. I think I'll dig some out intermittently for chuckles.

I won't quote the poster, but this little gem popped out at me...:)

Really impressed with the way Poch has handled Townsend here, excluding him from the squad in a busy week is a ballsy move and one that should be backed and admired.

Fining a a player has little impact these days with the amount they earn, so the only real way to punish a player, especially one who wants game time, is to drop them from the squad

Stupid move by Andros really, moaning about not getting enough game time, throws a strop...gets dropped from the squad for a match where he would've probably got game time.
Well played cheeky chops*

*my new pet name for Poch.

He still has 3 and a half years on his current deal...

I want Pochettino here for the next 20 years though three and a half.

You only need to watch the way Neville and Scholes talk up Pochettino that he will be a man in demand one day soon.
