Am sure he is potentially a very good manager indeed but he is too much of a risk, his career has been with small clubs where he has got them punching above their weight, kinda the Argentine answer to Dave Bassett, but we need someone who has been at the sharp end, has experienced CL at the highest level, someone who has proven himself in big games, Poch hasn't, he is too big a risk

If we harbour CL ambitions we need someone who has managed in the CL, Poch has never experienced Europa let alone CL

Benitez has WON the CL and Europa, we would be mad not to hire him

Good words from Poch. Townsend's been told off, but certainly not frozen out - he's just been given a good kick up the arse.

It's a trip reading earlier pages/posts...

And that's a very tame one. Some absolute corkers lurk in this thread. I think I'll dig some out intermittently for chuckles.

He's pretty much describing LVG here and it's pretty much safe to say that wouldn't have worked at all.

Poch is the best thing to happen to Spurs in a long time, he's just the tonic we needed.

I agree. And he's got a core of really talented, young, and hungry players whom he's helping to develop a culture around the club. They seem to get on really well and they fight for each other, and if we can somehow keep this group together for another two years, we may...just *MAY*...see something special result from it.

When it comes to Townsend, if he's potentially upsetting the apple cart, then he's rightly going to be cast adrift. There's nothing beneficial in keeping around a player who may start a rot from the inside.

Yeah, ummm. Nothing wrong whatsoever in thinking Benitez or De Boer would have been a good fit at the time . As soon Pochettino got the job he's had my full backing. He is doing a good job at present and hope we can achieve something big with him in charge. It's still abit early to be saying "I told you so" just yet. The signs are good that we may have a top manager. COYS

I think it's a bit unnecessary to be calling out posters over old comments. Admittedly I've done exactly that in the Kane thread, but I've never hidden the fact that I'm a massive hypocrite.

People had legitimate concerns. We're all happy that we're doing well at the moment, and long may it continue. If everything goes tits up it would be equally daft for people to go back and quote posts from the positive periods.

To be frank it is the inconsistency is people's views that drive me nuts. Not just in football, but everything in life. My biggest pet hate is when fans have a pop at other fans stating the Chairman/Manager/Player deserves unwavering loyalty/patience and then that same fan will have no loyalty/patience for a Chairman/Manager/Player they don't rate.

Very true.

"I don't like Andros. I wish he would fuck off to some Championship team."

"I love Kane. He'll never consider leaving us because he's one of our own."

Unpopular players become deadwood, and valuable players become mercenaries if they want to go to bigger clubs.

So the answer is become a big club.
Problem solved.

The last few pages on here are quite, quite tragic.

Maybe Andros is the biggest **** we've had at the lane bar the whore, I personally don't see that. I see a talented, frustrated pro who Is being played out of position. Someone, who isn't about image, reacted, incorrectly, in the wrong place at the wrong time. He wasn't playing up to the cameras. He just boiled over in frustration at seeing a youngster getting game time above him. He wasn't trying to 'throw his weight around' as some have said.

Poch clearly doesn't fancy Townsend. For whatever reason. But no one can say that Townsend doesn't love the club as much as us. He is a fan as well as a player. A very rare thing these days. People used to mock Kane's chances of ever making the break through...Why can't the same belief be given to Townsend? Is he really that shit? Imo he needs to be told he is a left winger. Given simple clear instructions and played. Bit like the England manager does.

Poch is the manager and as I've said before. We have to back the manager, particularly this one as Levy has been an utter, utter fool in his treatment/acquisitions of managers since his tenure. Anyone with a brain knew we had to have some sort of stability with this appointment.

But I'm not quite ready to lay the sick at his feet and ask him to heal them or give him five fishes and ask him to provide 35k of salmon bagels on a match day. I'm relatively happy at what is going on at Spurs atm. But I'm not ready to start the rapture. I'm also advocating him to stay to Christmas after next whatever happens.

The way people are eulogising him is a bit much though. In this world what level is Bilic? Or even the archangel Ranieri?

Without being an insider I feel he took a sledgehammer to a nut.

I like Poch but he is still learning on the job and on our coin. Its still wait and see for me.

Why can't the same belief that was given to Kane be Given to Townsend? Maybe because he's nowhere as good as Kane?
