Lamela was fucking class. Not just on the ball and with his pressing, but the way he was bossing the midfield marshaling the younger players on where to run and pass - he's really stepping up. The others:

The new boys:
Wanyama - solid hit out and was trying the full 90mins, good addition to the squad
Janssen - not many chances but looks like he'd benefit with some fitness & conditioning which will come

Impressed with:
Onomah, Yedlin, Miller (impressed on the ball, obviously not a LB), Edwards (physicality will come)

Disappointed with:
Chadli, Son, Ball

How do people come to these conclusions? I'm honestly at a loss here. This guy needs maximum coverage so that everybody knows what a fucking brain-dead moron he is.

Only watched the last 30 mins. But I was encouraged by what I saw. Lamela is so important to this team. His energy and desire to attack and win the ball keeps this team in the opponents half. This could be a very important season for him.

Was impressed with the youth players that came on in the second half. They had desire and energy. The passing was crisp and they showed decent technique. Hopefully they'll keep it up during training and preseason and show the Chadli's and Mason's that their places aren't guaranteed.

How was Jansen guys?
Touch was heavy at times and made a couple of sloppy passes, but his movement looks class when we did get the ball near him but in all we didn't provide him with a lot of chances while he was on. Looked like he was trying to do the team things at all times when perhaps he could have taken a shot from distance when in a little bit of space, but that's probably down to trying to make a good impression on his team mates and coaches.

I wouldn't say he gets "hate" from fans. I have been one of his critics and it's only because he can do more. He is ridiculously talented but thus far in his career for us he hasn't been able to use that talent consistently.

He is showing signs of improving in that respect which is fantastic and if he keeps developing he will be eveything you say he is and more but until that point I think a number of people on this site get really carried away.

If the best he ever performed for us was last season he would leave the club as a disappointment. He needs to keep improving which I think he will. This could be a huge season for him and hopefully he succeeds and we reap the rewards.

Stop talking shit. Go look back at the Lamela thread. There are posters on there showing how much they detest Lamela.

I think tripps may well have a problem here. If yeds proves to bring similar quality from the flank but with the pace he has then poch will move tripps on imo.
I said this in the Yedlin thread several days ago and was shot down. The only one who agreed with me was @yankspurs . Glad others are seeing his worth now.

After watching, Mason just cannot cope with big teams. This is Juve without Pogba and our midfield was over ran in 1st half.

Poch better find an upgrade.... and soon. Sell Caroll, Mason and Bentelab, use the money for one more quality CM.

Lamela is class, no real surprise there. Thing what I liked is this match looked effortless for him, yes he should have scored the second goal but considering this was his first 45 mins of pre season he ran the show.

Apart from that, loving what I saw from Edwards, he does really need to bulk up as he was knocked off the ball to easily at times but he looks a real talent.

Yedlin has seemingly improved a lot since last season. Very curious to see if he gets shifted as many, including me, expected...

Really want to see Winks more meaningfully involved this season, think he's hugely underrated, and could become a very good player.
