He needs to show his ruthlessness and drop Dier, Verts for a start. Pamela (Lamela) should be in the bench. Eriksen, well it may wake him up. The replacements are obvious.
It wasn't just Dier's fault though. Dele left him with a lot to do. If Poch was so determined to play Dele in a CM@ then Wanyama would have been the better pairing. But more importantly Poch apparently hasn't learned that the person most important in the CM2 is Dembele. Although he made light of it after the Liverpool game it is indeed fact that Dembele is the most important person in our midfield.
And Dele is not adequate cover for anyone in our CM2. His defensive instincts/positioning are shit. Multiple times today he gambled and gave up his goalside position only tocome up empty-handed leaving the ball carrier free to come at us. It's simple you can do that but if you fail you must foul the ball carrier. He is not the only one to give up goal side today. Davies and lamela did it as well.

Took me just over an hour to cycle home. Feel for the 40-odd thousand fans sitting in cars in the car park. One friend still on the local roads nearby and another only just got on a train as I got home!

My match summary:
-fabulous atmosphere - well done Spurs for decking the place out and well done fellow fans for making it sound brilliant.
-slack defending. Walker was shouting at Eriksen to get tight just as they won the throw, he didn't, they crossed and made it 0-2. Lamela giving the ball away was disappointing. He didn't really step up tonight.
-Janssen looks really good. Brilliant hold up play and work around the box. Needs more minutes and a goal to get it all going. Lacks pace but grreat movement.
-Sissoko and Dembele made us look more powerful, albeit only for 5min for Sissoko but having Dembele back was great.
-we can still qualify...

COYS!

Agree with most of why you say but pArticusrly the bold bit. VJ isn't that quick but seemed to make up for it through sheer determination. I was quite impressed.

We literally have no decent plan B for when Dembele isn't available, and we can't expect him to play every league and CL game.

I wish Poch would use the squad more, instead of clearly out of form players getting a free pass every match. Kane should have been replaced, not moved back when Jansen came on.

On the plus side, I really liked Sissoko's run down the right when he beat three players and found Alli with a great ball. Hopefully a good sign of things to come.

Kane's not tired, he's out of form. Form is temporary, class is permanent. He'll come good just like the last two seasons.

Having said that, he needs to learn the art of passing to his fellow striker

Thing with Janssen is he is great at hold play and link play but he was making good runs not picked up by our midfielders, wonder if on the training ground that needs work.

Janssen is different to Kane as he want to play off the shoulder more but not sure if we are used to this.

We weren't bad, but we were annoying.

I will go back and read the thread and i am sure that I will be giving out lots of Agrees to all the comments that allude and/or resonate to the following;

We should not rotate the front three so much; Lamela gets found out too much when on the flanks in the Champions League. Show him him the line and he gets the yips as he has no right boot. He is so hard to handle when running through the middle; despite his poor giveaway for the first.

We need to concentrate more in defence, both goals conceded were unnecessary. I feel sorry for Lloris and Pochettino, but we should learn.

It is still a winnable group, but we can't drop points at home again.

I enjoyed the spectacle and I am really looking forward to the new White Hart Lane.

Lamela made the mistake that began the process to the first goal, but the defending from Vertonghen and Davies was woeful. Lamela then made the second goal as well as almost make another a few moments later. So, you can shove the Pamela moniker. Dembele is coming back from lack of playing time. Kane was the one who flattered to deceive tonight: he missed a sitter and continues to suffer from Defoe syndrome, the inability to pass to team-mate in a scoring position.

Yeah. Shoulda legged it. My mate talked me into hanging around to let the "crowd disperse". Schoolboy

Took my 9 year old son for his first Tottenham match. We left our seats right on the whistle. He was a great "vanguard" and sprinted down the stairs and weaved through the crowd. I had to bundle along to keep up.

It worked though, on a train within 20-30 minutes.

I was worried that we did not start with Wanyama and Dier, which may not be creative, but would have blocked their runs through the middle.

I agree much more than I disagree with your analysis. However, Dier Dele gave us a great thrust and fast start we've been looking for. Lamela didn't need to pinch the ball from our defender (forget who was running out). Still, as he did, he reall should have sprayed it to the right to Walker who was in acres.

Again, a player capable of passing with the right would have made this pass. It's not that he didn't see the space, he just couldn't find it.

Wanyama would not have changed this reality.

Still love Lamela though and he assisted our goal.

Just got back, my 2p....

They deserved it because they were more effective in possession than we were. They moved it quicker, were sharper, more aggressive and posed more of a threat because they actually moved the ball forward rather than just slowly passing it sideways across the pitch back and forth without going anywhere. We seemed to be waiting for something to happen rather than forcing the issue and thought we played like the away side in the first half which was when all the damage was done.

Corners/free kicks - short corners do my fkin head in. Such a waste and when they go wrong as they did 95% of the time, half the team is out of position. Free kicks were also poor, didn't seem again to have any thought behind them.

We were utter shit first half. Second half much better but again little direct threat. They looked far more dangerous and purposeful going forward.

Few passengers out there tonight, don't want to round on anyone but eriksen, dear me. Very poor. Kane missed a sitter and very impressed with silva as lots have already said.

Great occasion but lots of work to do.

Disappointing result. We can't blame Wembley. The atmosphere before the 2 goals was as loud as I've ever heard it. But just like it does at WHL it dropped after the second, picked up after we scored but the crowd obviously got more and more tense as the game wore on.

On the game itself:

Dele and Dier can't start a game of that importance in the CM2 again. When needing a goal against a lower league PL team yes. But not the form team in France. A few bad giveaways by the attacking 3 and Deli Alli and suddenly the nerves have the better of Dier and we start loosing every loose ball and header to Monaco.

Dembele is as important to this team as we all new he was. In fact I'm starting to believe he is this team.

We concede to soft goals, which you can't do at this level and get punished.

And then the reverse. We create chances for Kane. He has to finish them. 3-2 to spurs if he does and were laughing.

Anyway, gutting result. But its left me excited about the new stadium. Keep the fans together, closer and tighter to the pitch and with the single tier end it will be rocking.

Football 365:
Three shots on target in six games for club and country this season is a meagre return. Kane’s effort cannot be faulted, nor too his link-up play outside the area, but his penalty box actions remind of a clumsy young police officer, desperate to impress but trampling all over the evidence.

I didn't realise this, (assuming it's true). Jeezzz we are in a bit of a fix with Harry.
