I'm not too worried about taking Dembele out to be honest if it means a more creative player taking his place. Paulinho and Capoue seemed to boss it anyway

Plus if Dembele is still nursing an injury the rest can help him!

At the moment it looks like we are doing the same as last year but better., Also we are putting in lots of crosses and getting men in the box. Much more positive in that respect.

But we still lack this player with guile, vision, the ability to find space in dangerous places between the lines and then do damage with the ball. . Its clear to see. The number ten who came on at half time would have been nice!!

We looked really good I thought

We've certainly strengthened the team over all.

All our signings look good - Paulihno looks exceptional and Caupoe is not far behind, Soldado looks a real quality striker just starved of service and Chaldi has looked impressive and will be a great addition over the coming years I am sure.

If we now bring in a CB and a left back we will be far more solid as a unit than we were last year.

Soldado's movement and work rate are top notch and he looks good on the ball and clinical when he gets chances.

What I will say though is if Bale leaves and things remain as is we simply will not have replaced his quality - that's by no means a snipe at any of our new signings, its just a matter of Bale being that big a player for us.

We'd still need a Lamela type to try and replace what we're going to lose and a plan be for Willian in my opinion.

Facts don't lie - we've not scored from open play and in truth we haven't created many clear cut chances in the box. It's been all long shots, crosses/pull backs for late runs from midfield.

Soldado is being starved of chances and we need a player who has the creativity/guile to unlock defences and create real goal scoring chances for a man from Spain who will bury them all.

We look good all over the park now, strong and dynamic with no shortage of athleticism or enthusiasm but losing Bale means we still need more. LB is still a weak link and needs to be addressed, it appears we're bringing in the Romanian CB which will add quality depth in an important area but we need to do what we seemed to have planned when we were gonna bring in Willian and Lamela and that means buying two top quality attacking players to both chip in with their share of goals and service Soldado.

It will take 2 players of the quality of Willian and Lamela to replace Bale in my opinion

The whole Dembele debate is irrelevant. Our midfield dominates - no question. What we lack is a top quality creative player in the final third and until we find one the rest of our attacking players won't look as good.

On another note, Capoue looks a particularly good signing.

good stuff, just that 20 min spell when dembele came off for sig and we couldn't keep the ball. Roll on the arse next week with hopefully a new superstar on the bench
I thought the same as you. Although at times the midfeild seemed crowded there is no doubt having three in there makes sure we stop the opposition from building anything. Paulinho is a real box to box player and with two quality wide men we will stop having to rely so much on Soldado. Right now I think teams will try and stop him so snuff out much of our goal threat.

However I am not worried since 1) it is very early days for the 'new team' 2) we are still after more attacking/creative options. We are off to a great start and I see no reason why we will not challenge for honours this season

Dembélé looked slightly superfluous, today, and I couldn't have imagined myself saying that last season.
Other than the, and I am really glad I am not the only one saying this:
3 games, 3 clean sheets. Much happier with today's result than if we had one 5 - 1, for that reason.
2 EPL games two wins, two goals, two penalties - like taxis :)

The way our midfield cuts off the opposition at source means that they face so much pressure because it isn't being relieved. I agree, though, looked like we were tiring a bit in the second half.

Pretty sure we'll be adding some more creativity. As with last week, but probably even more so, could easily have had 3 today, and for the bulk of the game, looked so comfortable, especially with Hugo never seeming to lose concentration. I'm happy (y)

Agreed - Paulinho was easily the MOTM and Capoue was the best of the rest.

To be fair everyone played well from Lloris to Soldado

I am very happy at the win but I am a bit convened that we have two 1-0 wins by penalties- this is not enough for the NLD.

I could not watch the match but was was the main problem, creating chances or putting them away or a bit of both?

Just got back. Great game and can I just say how fucking solid we are. We made a very good Swnasea team look like absolute chumps.

Also AVB seems to have addressed the set piece problem, never felt like we'd concede from one.

Understatement imo, not wanting to get carried away but we bossed that today, we look solid as fook. Couple of quality additions like Lamela and Erickson, Holtby to come back into the fray aswell as Sandro and Kaboul and we will be frightening. Took us a while to get going last year and understandably so given the new manager etc.

Signs looking bloody good now!

Still feel we'll lose NLD

Their movement was top class yesterday and we still have a very isolated attack.

It will come together in time with new signings but I reckon come the home game against them we'll beat them convincingly
