Well it was a matter of time I suppose.
To be introduced for the 2018 World Cup in Russia.
I just hope they can find a way of eliminating the long pauses that occurred between goals being scored and actually awarded during the recent France Vs Spain match.

Just now in the Sydney FC vs Perth game, a Sydney player scored but they are going to the VAR after the first discussion with the linesman (who gave offside) and play restarted after a goal was disallowed. The VAR has given it as a goal.

I'll try to find a gif later but Sydney player A collects the ball and beats a challenge on the edge of the box and scores. Linesman puts his flag up because Sydney player B encroaches, potentially blocking a defender from challenging.

The whole thing took 2 minutes.

Be interested to see a clip if u can find one mate.
The entire concept really interests me, and I'm all for it in principle...but it's these delays that worry me.

I'm trying :D they are in the trial stage at the moment - thankfully. I posted about it in the corruption thread before.

Another goal now, given offside but he wasn't - they have rugby lines still visible on the pitch and it makes it clear. The goalie then ran straight into a Sydney player and wiped him out. They've gone to the VAR again. Goal given. Nothing done to the goalie. Haha, what a shambles :D

Perth are losing their heads after that first decision.

Edit: @Gb160 http://www.foxsports.com.au/footbal...m/news-story/c6e193d7d0eca8ecda5831d219fb49e4 the highlights should be here soon.

About 2 months ago. The final 6 weeks of the regular season used it (previous 21 did not!), the first round of playoffs last week and the semi finals this week.

The league system is like NBA/NHL/baseball; regular season, playoff quarters, semis and grand final. One off games though. Could be that the team who won the league does not win the final, although Sydney won the league easily and are 3-0 up in the semi so they probably will (and should). The A-League twitter account is not putting up replays, grrr. At the same time, the NRL rugby account is. Frustrating.
