Just thought i'd create a thread to preserve for posterity all the Spurs related tantrums we find in this forum. The idea is so that we can find them with ease and enjoy the schadenfreude of rubbing them in the poster's face at a later date. Hopefully this will result in more reasoned debate and fewer boring spittle-flecked rants.

Simply cut and paste the best kneejerks, overreactions, and hysterical fits of puerile petulance. Please don't just put posts you disagree with in here. If people think Levy is ruining the club or that a particular player is shit that is just their opinion. What we need is stuff that compares Levy to Hitler or Pol Pot. Posts that claim players are worse buys than Bentley or better than Bale & Modric combined. In other words hyperbole, hissy fits and pram emptying temper tantrums.

Posts that end up here that don't qualify should be heavily spammed.

Enjoy ...

I think the matchthread posts should have an amnesty from this one though, the matchthread is meant to be crazy

More leeway for sure. We all do stupid things in the heat of the moment (reminds self to feed the Jehovah's witness chained up in the cellar :shifty:).

I think we have a deserving post to kick off this thread. Well not a post exactly but a thread title.

Step forward @jimbo78 who managed this gem http://www.spurscommunity.co.uk/index.php?threads/most-boring-spurs-team-ever.112077/

Simply stating that our current team is boring would of course not have qualified but "Most boring Spurs team ever" certainly does. 'Ever' is a long time (in case you didn't know) and unless you became a Spurs fan after last season (or think that AVB's 'pass it sideways until the opposition die of boredom' policy floated your boat, then I would suggest your hypothesis is well and truly busted.

Hats off to you Sir for this spectacular piece of hyperbole :notworthy:.

so this is basically the thread for those who think that "because we're happy with mediocrity, we think we're superior to those who complain."

Errmm ... no. If you had read the opening post you would realise that it is open to both sides. Rabidly pro-Levy posts and blinkered optimism expressed with ludicrous exaggeration qualify just as much as those from the anti-Levy or pessimist side. The qualification is simply that the position stated is ridiculously over the top.

Doh :banghead:

I'm an idiot :sorry:. I've now edited my post to get the right poster. Apologies.

S'all right.

I was thinking about this the other day, and it seems relevant here, that our fan base roughly divides into two camps:

Camp Bastion: among the neatly pitched rows of tents are Spurs fans who understand that our average league finish is 6th, that our resources limit our ability to compete with the 5 or so clubs above us on wages and fees, that without improved revenue whether from major infrastructure projects (stadium) or external investment (new owners) we are unable to compete on a level playing field. Inmates of Camp Bastion remember fondly the Champions League campaign of 2011/12 but know that it was the result of a long build-up having seen the foundations laid steadily over several years to create a team that could challenge the top four when the opportunity arose through the decline of Liverpool etc. They are happy to wait, to finish 5th/6th and to lay foundations again for when the next opportunity to crack the top four comes about.

Camp Forlorn Hope: among half-finished pillow forts and discarded tin-foil helmets are the Spurs fans who believe that because we finished in the top four before we must attempt to do so every year. The wage structures and financial tables matter not to them, theirs is not the way of consolidation and steady progress. Inmates of Camp Forlorn Hope are desperate for money to be spent, other teams are spending money and we're getting left behind, we're getting over-taken, we should be winning the double - we did it once before. Worst of all we're all being misled by the club's owners who refuse to spend, who are holding us back, who keep telling us we're top four challengers...

I'm definitely in Camp Bastion at the start of most seasons (except when Hoddle was manager) but generally end up in Camp Forlorn Hope when Levy yet again refuses to strengthen the squad in the January window. This has been my biggest criticism of the ENIC years and quite a few of my post window posts would probably have rightly ended up in this thread. If it happens again this January and we once again snatch defeat from the jaws of victory I might start next season sporting a tin-foil hat.

@haydsmith
Posted this in the Lamela thread.

Agree Lamela better than Eriksen so far but not hard- the latter has been abysmal. The truth is these two are simply nowhere near good enough.

Personally I live in the wilderness outside of camp and watch from the bushes as the occupants of both get together to sing songs for each other round the fire or throw shit at the other lot.

Oooo close call. Still i'd say it's just opinion. Not a sane popular opinion admittedly but it's still within the realms of possibility that he could turn out to be right. Close but no cigar.

Fair play at least I know where it is for future reference.
