Both wrong. In the mid 80s to early 90s there was the big 5. Spurs, Liverpool, Man Utd, Arsenal and Everton. Chelsea did not have a sniff until their Russian money changed their fortunes.

City were yo-yo relegaters and no hopers before the infusion of boundless riches, and that only, made them where they are today. No reason the same won't happen to Newcastle. I'm trying to work out how their logic works when they think that they can discredit Conte's titles because he did it at Juventus, yet at the same time call Nagelsmann, Flick, Allegri and Ten Hag better.

Flick and Nagelsmann working in a one team league. Allegri is credited when he came in straight after Conte? Ten Hag had Ajax playing some amazing football, but the hype around him before he's even managed a game for UTD is maddening.

Don't get me wrong, I enjoy the football that those coaches have their teams play, but then I enjoy Conte ball too. Just because he knows when to admit that the other team are better and we have to counter attack does not make him a defensive/boring coach. If we'd broken through Liverpool's high line as many times as we should have (Hojbjerg, Kane and Deki all missed easy passses for Son), then would world class Klopp have been lauded for sticking to his principles?
