Because our supporters can be pathetic. It's sickening, he should leave the club and go to someone who appreciates a quality teenager clocking minutes.

I just don't get it, a 19 year old that has been given the chance to play for us. He hasn't spoken ill of us, there are far worst performers this season. Everywhere (Twitter, facebook) I look, our fans are putting him down. Why is everyone trying to destroy this kid?

Anyone who hates the kid is an idiot IMO. I can understand the frustration when Tim keeps playing him even when he needs a break or the opponent don't suit him. I'm happy to see a player come from within our own ranks rather than spunking millions on a gamble.

I really don't think anyone really hates Bentaleb and if you read the comments, most are actually directed at Tim (even if you have to read between the lines)

Collateral damage of AVB fanboys. I mean they hardly care about kid as long as some heads will roll for The Messiah.

I don't rate him (yet), I think he definitely has the potential to be a decent player but I'd loan him out to a lower/mid table prem club next season. I don't think he deserves the criticism he gets, though I don't believe he's warranted the over the top praise he''s received either. Between him and Carroll, I think the latter will turn into the better footballer.

Yeah the hate is hilarious. Would much rather watch Bentaleb in CM than Paulinho/Dembele/Chadli based on performances this season.

I wasn't aware of any significant hate. How ridiculous. The only thing I'll say is I think he was overplayed by Sherwood.

Trust me when I look on Twitter and Facebook our fans are not saying "that they think he is being overplayed"

The dislike stems from fans thinking he has been overplayed by Tim. It is absolutely ridiculous though, I actually think in the 2nd half of the year Eriksen aside, Bentaleb has been our best performed midfielder. He keeps play ticking over better than Paulinho and Dembele who have been quite poor. He has also remained fit and Tim has been able to call upon/rely upon him more than he can some of the senior players.

The fact is....yes perhaps he has been overplayed...but...what is his competition? Have they been better? Some fans want them played for the sake of it because they are big names.

There is great upside in Bentaleb and we should be throwing our support behind the land regardless of your opinion about Tim Sherwood (who also cops it unfairly).

This is not the time for common sense

I don't think he is really hated.

Sure there are people on FB and Twitter but the real intense haters in these sites are one of the lowest form of life and shouldn't be considered when judging the majority's views on people or issue. It is just attention seeking.

I think Bentaleb has shown that he has ability and potential and if handled right could become a good player for us.

The frustration is that he is being played almost every single game which is exposing his weaknesses and is not the right way to bring youngsters through.

We need a passer in midfield right now who has a bit of tenacity and work-rate. Holtby should be getting a chance right now and he is on loan. He's a couple of years ahead in his development compared to Bentaleb.

I hope the next manager has a clue what he's doing and plays the young players at the right times in order for them to develop and gain confidence on a bigger stage.

Just the way the world works that the frustration is aimed at the player.

He should still be playing IMO. I didn't realise he was hatred by anyone but do realise he's been tarred with the Sherwood brush.

What's disappointing is Sherwood seems to have reacted to crowd pressure or tactically misjudged the reason for a couple of poor performances from bentaleb - which were basically due to being played in poor tactical set ups against superior teams and tactics of those teams.

Jesus...............you actually think Tim gives a fuck about what our fans think?
He is making decisions on how people are working in training and if Bentaleb is being outworked/outplayed by someone else in training then that's how it should be.

Well he isn't being outworked and outplayed by Chadli on the pitch on match days.

We don't see these guys at training though.
Do you really want to go back to the Redknapp days when he basically played the same players all the time no matter how they played?
I don't think that builds squad unity or creates an atmosphere at the club whereby hard work and application is rewarded.
I actually prefer a manager who gives players a chance not based on reputation, how much they earn, how much they cost, how much the fans love them or how well they played last season.
If we want to build a team of players with a professional attitude and with a winning mentality then it starts on the training ground every Monday morning.
You fight everyday to get into the team and you fight every game to stay in the team.

Based on a purely meritocratic system I don't understand many of Sherwood's decisions, Chadli now being played as a CM instead of Bentaleb (amongst others) being just one of them.

There is a big difference between giving constructive criticism and hating. No real fan hates one of their own and no one is above criticism.

I'm not sure that is how Tim is doing it though. You play the best players for the opposition and not because "you don't know them"!
Squad unity comes from treating players with respect, Tim doesn't seem to understand that either.
I really like Bentaleb though and think he has got real potential. All of our mids are actually more suited to a 3 than a 2 and I think we'll see an even better Bentaleb once we have a decent formation and tactics.
