I really like him, a talented kid who came through our academy , what's there not to like?

i thought he had a great game yesterday. Dont forget he was up against Matic and Fabregas whove been called the 2 best midfielders in the league this season. He didnt look out of place.

I remeber watching him vs Liverpool U21s on LFC tv.
We had an amazing U21 side a couple of years ago, Kane, Ceballos, Falque, Pritchard and McCevoy.

Pritchard was the best out of the lot, I would be gutted if he didn't get a chance, he is a carbon copy of Eriksem, a free kick is basically a goal with both of them.

Performed excellent yesterday. The higher tempo of the game seemed to suit him, he got stuck into plenty of tackles, quick and probing passing, not afraid to make the odd burst forward, and covered well. When Kane scored his second goal, Vertonghen won the ball off Ramires and it was Bentaleb, covering for Rose in a left back position, who burst forward and started the counter. He then continued his run forward and was just behind Kane when he received the ball.

Love Bentaleb. Great game yesterday. Can become a huge player for spurs.
I dont think there are many people on here hating bentaleb, as thread says. But at last season he was used to often ny Sherwood.
We could all see hes a talent but he shouldnt be played as much as he did at the end of last season.

he really grew into the game and showed what he could do against the best. More to come from him, especially more of the play in the 2nd half

I think he was really good against Chelsea and the biggest difference was how much more aggressive he was. He actually looked like a defensive midfielder and got stuck in. Our two CMs have been bullied in recent games, but not against Chelsea. I couldn't tell if he or Matic was the one who had gotten all the praise in the season, if i just looked at the match without knowing them beforehand.

I think he should commit to that DM position and work on impose himself in every match. If he can play with the same attitude in every game and also work on his passing, then he could be a top DM in the league.

He was the same in his first game back against Everton - an absolute beast. He could go on to be a very very good player for us.

The kid is already prem quality. He could be world class. Our 'fans' get on his back at the first sign of the wrong pass/poor pass. Some, 100%, want him to fail so they can say "always said he was shit. Absolutely batshit mental.
What makes you think he could be world? Tbh I think he's decent on his day, but very average all round...

It's all about opinions. I believe he could be anything perhaps even a world star based on how he is performing already and the progress he has made since Sherwood brought him into the team. He has parts of his game that will need to improve further but he is only 20 and playing in one of the most difficult positions in an PL team and he is a standout already. He is anything but average. Name me another PL midfielder who at 19/20 was consider my many to be the best midfielder at his club playing in the PL ?

But Dembele, who played most of the game vs Chelski, was not amongst those 2 in "recent games"...

He's 20. Name me 10 better CMs, at 20, over the last 5-10 years.

As another poster said, all about opinions but the fact that Poch and Sherwood hold him in such high regard added to how much better we've played with him in the team suggests he is more than average. Like Carrick, I suspect a lot of people will realise what they've lost when he is gone. He won't get loads of assists but he facilitates everything else, some people struggle to pick up on these subtle things (just like they did with Carrick).

Fair play to Sherwood.

The more our team squad are getting used to Pochittinho methods the more I'd like to give them time to cement their roles within the team. That of course means we should not be clamoring for more signings. Mason Bentaleb are a nice blend, both young impressionable talents that could be a main stay for the next 10 + years. I think they deserve the whole season imo with a pick from two of Stambouli Dembele Paulinho Capoue rotating.

Pritchard Carroll Velkovic are interesting assets
also for next season I think we really need to be careful in the transfer market...I see Pritchard as being rotated with Eriksen and also playing with him the futures bright in midfield however we do need to address up front to help rotation with Kane ...and get a top CB

Good watch,thanks for posting.
I am a big Bentaleb fan and he had a pretty good game against Chelsea but it certainly wasn't one of his best performances.
I have seen him playing way better in several games and there is a lot more to come from Nabil.

That would be a seriously long list even if you only went back the Steven Gerrard and Paul Scholes. Quite apart from that, I doubt many consider him better than Eriksen at Spurs.

A seriously long list you haven't produced. Were Gerrard an Scholes considered the best CMs at their clubs at 19/20 ? Certainly they became the best CMs at their clubs in their early to mid 20s but at 19 ?
