Still passes for the sake of passing too much, but that can be said for a lot of our squad.

Plays much better when he's being pressed.

They use to say that about Carrick and what a great player he turned out to be. He is 20 playing in the hardest league in the world and in possibly the most difficult position to play in. Outstanding yesterday.

He is still very young going to be a great player in a couple of seasons no doubt about it

last season I really wasn't happy when he played, I think Sherwood played him to often to try and make a point and he suffered for that and fans got on his back.
this season I will happily eat humble pie and say he has had some very good games. the guy can be very skilful at times which he doesn't get credit for. He started slow yesterday but grew into the game as it went on. he seemed to do well alongside dembele yesterday too

If you have a look on the Spurs FB page, a couple of days ago they posted that Bentaleb returns from injury. The top comment was "leave him out of the squad, not good enough" followed by that guy commenting today "worst player on the pitch today". There really is no helping some people, once they decide they don't like a player, they won't change their mind.

Anyone who can't see the talent that Nabil Bentaleb has should just stick to watching darts because they know bugger all about football.

Personally I think he has been very underwhelming for a few games until yesterday (although I still have one major gripe with him.... **), this is purely down to being a youngster at the beginning of his career. He will be inconsistent. But he has evidenced large talent for his age too. Perhaps I'm being too measured because he took longer to convince me than others on here and I am being glass half empty when I shouldnt be. Bu don't take that as me not rating him.

But for anyone not to to recognise he has large talent and great potential as well as a fantastic attitude is really strange.

** Not tracking runners behind him. It leaves me frustrated at least once a game but this will improve as he learns his trade at the top level.

To be fair there is no CM who will track every single runner every game!

Loved seeing him mouthing off at Fabregas yesterday after the little spat with Jan. He & Dembele did really well against what many seem to think is the best midfield in the league.

I know! But sometimes with Bentaleb the run he doesnt track or the man he lets drift off him seems nonsensical or just a lack of awareness/common sense. But I think this will improve as he learns his trade and positioning and awareness etc improves.

and you'll be right back here as soon as he has a poor game calling for him to be dropped.
How many poor games are you allowed before anyone on here is allowed to comment ? Idiot. Also you told me mason ran the show against utd so as I said previously you shouldn't be allowed to comment. Embarrasing.

I am old enough to remember when a young Souness left Spurs because he was homesick. Bentalebs way of playing reminds me so much of Souness. A genuine world class talent, with that bit of steel that we have been lacking.

I just don't get it, a 19 year old that has been given the chance to play for us. He hasn't spoken ill of us, there are far worst performers this season. Everywhere (Twitter, facebook) I look, our fans are putting him down. Why is everyone trying to destroy this kid?

Because some people are, quite frankly, shortsighted and extremely stupid. As you say he's 19yrs old (20 now) and he has a huge responsibility in the position he plays, he needs time to grow and gain his experience, just like Kane and Mason and in my opinion he will come good. So to those that keep knocking him, give it a fecking rest, for christs sake!!

Problem is, Algeria are likely to go very far in the ACN. He's going to be a big miss and the ACN is known for killing the rest of a player's season too. Such a stupidly organised even this. Every two years in the middle of the season for clubs who are paying their wages. This really needs to be sorted out.

Fortunately coincides with a decent run of games.

I assume that the January/February timing is due to weather considerations (albeit anyone should feel free to correct me if I'm wrong) which is arguably fair enough, but it's insane to have the tournament every 2 years. Totally batshit insane at that. Why the African Cup of Nations needs to happen every 2 years when the World Cup and European Championships are held every 4 years is baffling and should be changed immediately.

First misplaced pass yesterday and a guy a few seats away from me said "fucking Bentaleb, I hate that fucking ****".

Couldn't quite believe it. He grew into the game immensely yesterday. He is one our youth products, just a kid, massively talented etc.

I think Bentaleb has all be needs to be one of the best in the prem, give him time.

I realise this could have occured anywhere in the ground but do you sit in the Paxton, cos I heard the exact same comment?

Spot on

Bentelab, Mason & Kane have breathed new life into this team and kick started a wonderful revival. Long may it continue

I feel like he's had a dip in form recently, and that he's been a bit of a liability (especially in misplacing passes in very dangerous areas of the field), but he was excellent yesterday.

With Mason's injury, w're a little short in the midfield while he's at the ACN, but I hope the time he gets while away helps him get back into top form for his return.

Like a really good cheese or bottle of wine, it takes time to mature.
Bentaleb is maturing slowly but definitely getting there.
