I think it all depends on whether we expect Dier to hold down a starting spot next year or not. If so then that plan is great, with Reid and Fazio rotating in as tactics/fitness require. If not, then I think we really should look for a top CB to add to the mix, let Fazio compete and Dier continue learning.
What about Verts?

Just think it would be cool to have a team featuring names such as Winston, Erik, and Harry.

Watched the match yesterday on the box and not overly impressed tbh. One good strong clearance from a dangerous situation but not at all sure. He also played left CH yesterday - Vert's position.

Yeah I watched the Palace game Saturday (hahaha etc) and I think he'd be fine as a new rotation player but not going to be an upgrade on Dier or Verts.

Dier still young and learning. Reid an upgrade on Kaboul, Chiriches and Fazio at the moment so I'd take him without a doubt.

Bad news if he is off the market

Looks a solid centre and its a problem area for us (as tonights goal further illustrates)

Dier looks a good prospect and Vertonghen is a quality player but not a leader of men

Fazio looks very suspect still and Chirches and Kaboul just need selling asap

We need a quality, dominant leader at the back but I am sure there are many other options out there and I am sure we have a few quality youngsters coming through too if we need to sell some of the dead wood we have there

Lots of centre-halves out there. Reid was solid but nothing special. Not fussed, it's entirely possible we told him we were no longer interested anyway.

Think his wages might have caused trouble in the ranks anyway, 60k is more than most of our players are on.

Of Reid and Ings, I actually felt that the former was more likely to sign for us than Ings. Think he is a solid defender that could've been a good addition with Chichi andKaboul likely to leave this summer. Oh well...

I am not so sure we would have offered him those kind of wages to sign for us, fair play to him managing to get that out of WHU. Seems like the new tv deal £ is kicking in....
