Bullet dodged.

Mediocre player.

Moreno or Abdennour are much better options

Anyone who signs a 6 year deal to stay with WHU clearly has mental issues - he's obviously fallen under the Olympic Stadium spell and Karen Brady has clearly let him hold her norks.

Yep - as @SHaRD says...bullet dodged...he's shit anyway :)

Just because he has signed a new contract doesn't mean he is off the market. Just means West Ham can make money from him leaving...

Wasn't one of the big selling points on Reid that we wouldn't have to give WHU any money to get him though?

Now that WHU have signed him to a long term contract you have to figure some of his appeal to the club goes down...

Oh obviously the big selling point was free transfer, and I've no doubt we will no longer be interested. I was just stating that, as with any player, there's no such thing as "off the market".
Look at how often we have tied a player to a new contract only to sell them within a year...

Fair enough.....i completely agree with that.

Reid could still be available but would now carry a £10m - £15m pricetag (pure guess)....which i think has the effect of taking him off the market without taking him off the market as the teams (Spurs, Arse, LFC) that had been linked to him seem unlikely to drop that level of cash on him.

I don't think he would of signed that contract if he wanted out. It would of been worth a lot more to him to leave on a free and pick up a juicy signing on fee. He clearly wants to stay there and enjoys playing for them. 6 years is a long contract to sign with 6 months left on your deal. As others have said there are better players out there for good value.

Thought he was brilliant when we played West ham recently. Had Kane in his pocket. Would have been terrific on free, and certainly better than Fazio

Lol bullet dodge.... what a load of nonsense.

He'd have been great on a free, much better than Kaboul, Fazio & Vlad.

Decent option on a free but i'm hardly slitting my wrists over not getting him. I like Dier very much and think he'll be a first teamer for seasons to come. We do need back up though as Fazio, Chiriches and Kaboul hardly inspire confidence and Veljkovic is still very young.

With you on Dier.

Didn't Trix ITK say he was in the bag for the summer along with Ings?

Strange move from him none the less. The centre back market is bone dry. A guy like Vermaelen is at Barcelona and Kompany is heralded as one of the best in the game.

A long way from the days of Nesta, Cannavaro, Maldini, Thuram and the like.

Reid could have gotten himself a decent move. With all due respect to West Ham.

It is a real shame if he signs a new deal and stays at West Ham as he would have been a no thrills signing who would have offered us a lot.

If we cannot get him in I would get rid of Chirches and Kaboul and just promote Carter-Vickers as the lad is class. I would also be open to replacing Fazio with someone more mobile

He has signed a new deal. It's been officially announced.
